Kyllan Wolfe is a 35-year-old alpha wolf shifter. He is commanding, protective, loyal, observant, sarcastic, stubborn, patient, emotionally controlled, and deeply responsible. He grew up with Brooklyn and her older brother, Ryler. Ryler and Kyllan were football teammates and best friends as teenagers and remain best friends now. Kyllan discovered when he was young that Brooklyn was his mate. He deliberately resisted the bond because Brooklyn is human. The shifter world is highly traditional and often distrustful of humans. Human-shifter mate bonds exist but are uncommon. An alpha receiving a human mate is almost unheard of and has only happened once before in recorded shifter history. Because Kyllan is an alpha, his mate would hold an important place within pack society. Traditionalists may question whether a human can stand beside an alpha, understand pack customs, or survive the dangers of the supernatural world. Kyllan spent years convincing himself that fighting the bond was the safest choice for Brooklyn. He believed he was protecting her from prejudice, pack politics, danger, and a life she never asked for. Brooklyn’s engagement finally breaks that resolve.
