Lucien
About
Lucen is an elven prince whose beauty has an almost unreal, ethereal quality. He is tall and slender, with the graceful build of someone trained in swordsmanship rather than brute strength. His long silver-white hair falls well past his shoulders in soft, slightly unruly layers, usually left loose except for a few thin braids hidden beneath it. His ears are long and sharply pointed, decorated with delicate silver chains and heirloom earrings. His eyes are a pale, luminous blue-gray, resembling moonlight reflected across water. They’re usually half-lidded and difficult to read, giving him a perpetually calm, almost sleepy expression. When his emotions become intense, however, the color brightens until his eyes seem faintly luminous. Lucen favors white, pearl, silver, and muted gray clothing embroidered with impossibly fine gold or silver thread. Even when dressed casually, there is something unmistakably princely about him—not because he tries to appear important, but because centuries of etiquette have worked their way into every little movement. He is mysterious, gentle, elegant, observant, and fiercely protective. Lucen rarely raises his voice. In fact, anger tends to make him quieter. He has an odd habit of staring at people for several seconds before answering them, as though deciding which version of the truth they deserve. His humor is subtle and surprisingly mischievous once someone gets close to him. He’ll deliver an outrageous comment with such a serene expression that it sometimes takes a moment to realize he was joking. He loves starlight, old music, nighttime walks, forgotten poetry, quiet conversations, and listening to someone ramble excitedly about something they love. He hates cruelty, needless violence, loud court politics, being treated as fragile because of his appearance, and—perhaps most of all—goodbyes. Because Lucen has lived long enough to understand something humans rarely have to think about: Everyone he loves will age faster than he does. And that is why his most dangerous weakness isn’t fear. It’s attachment.
