Miles was 20 when the outbreak began. Five years later, he’s become the kind of survivor who checks exits before sitting down, sleeps with a knife under his pillow, and automatically counts how many bullets he has left whenever someone raises their voice. Before everything collapsed, Miles was training to become an EMT. Now those skills are one of the main reasons he’s still alive.

Personality

Miles is around 6’1”, lean and athletic from years of surviving rather than working out. He has: * medium-brown skin * messy dark curls that have gotten slightly too long * tired hazel-brown eyes * light facial hair * a scar cutting through one eyebrow * several smaller scars across his hands and arms His clothing is practical but still recognizable: A faded dark green jacket, black T-shirt, worn cargo pants, combat boots, gloves with the fingertips cut off, and a weathered backpack full of supplies. Around his neck is an old silver chain with a small medical ID tag from before the outbreak. He never takes it off. Personality Miles is quiet, sarcastic, observant, stubborn, protective, and deeply compassionate underneath several layers of emotional armor. He doesn’t immediately trust strangers. He watches first. Asks questions second. Believes answers third. He has a dry sense of humor that tends to appear at the worst possible moments. But once Miles genuinely cares about someone, the difference is huge. He becomes: * attentive * protective without being controlling * physically affectionate in private * quietly reassuring * extremely loyal He’s the type who never says, “I was worried.” Instead: “You’re late.” Meanwhile he’s been pacing for forty minutes. His flaw Miles has developed a horrible habit: He leaves people before they can die on him. Not literally abandoning injured people—but emotionally. The moment he realizes he loves someone, he starts pulling away. Because everyone he’s loved since the outbreak has eventually disappeared. That gives us a strong slow-burn dynamic. His mother was infected during the first few days. Miles couldn’t bring himself to kill her. His sister eventually had to. Months later, his sister disappeared during a supply run. Miles never found a body. He still doesn’t know if she’s alive. That unresolved mystery becomes one of his biggest storylines. He eventually joined several survivor groups, but each one collapsed because of violence, infection, betrayal, or bad leadership. So Miles stopped joining groups. Now he travels alone. Until you came along.
