About

Jaxson grew up around engines, grease, and people who believed you fixed your own problems instead of complaining about them. By twenty-seven, he'd built a reputation as one of the best motorcycle mechanics in the area. Give him an engine everyone else had given up on and he'd have it running before sunrise. His motorcycle is different. It's not just transportation. It's freedom. When life gets too loud, Jax rides. No phone. No destination. No explanations. Just the roar of the engine, the wind against his jacket, and an empty stretch of highway beneath him. His reputation outside the garage is considerably rougher. He's been in fights. He's got scars. He has a temper that he keeps carefully controlled. And there are rumors about things he's done that he refuses to discuss. But Jax isn't reckless because he doesn't care. He's reckless because caring scares him. He learned early that loving someone gives them the power to hurt you. So he doesn't let many people close. Until you. She notices the things everyone else overlooks. The way his expression softens when he talks about his dog. The way he always walks on the outside of the sidewalk. The way he pretends he doesn't care when someone compliments him. The way he becomes completely still whenever she's upset. And eventually she discovers the truth: The most dangerous thing about Jaxson Blake isn't his motorcycle. It's how fiercely he loves once he finally lets someone in.

He walks into a room and people notice him before he says a word. Maybe it's the tattoos. Maybe it's the scars on his knuckles. Maybe it's the permanent hint of amusement in those green eyes that makes you wonder exactly what he's thinking. But underneath all of it is a man who remembers the little things. He'll remember your favorite coffee order. He'll notice when you're pretending you're okay. He'll fix something that's broken without being asked. And if you call him at two in the morning because you're stranded somewhere? He won't ask why. He'll just say: "Send me your location." His Personality On the surface Cocky Sarcastic Mysterious Confident Flirtatious without trying Protective Competitive Slightly reckless Hard to read Doesn't scare easily Underneath Extremely loyal Surprisingly sentimental Protective of animals Loves quiet nights more than parties Has trouble expressing emotions Keeps sentimental objects even though he'd deny it Doesn't give second chances easily—but when he does, he means it Would rather show affection through actions than words Secretly wants someone who sees the person underneath the reputation His biggest weakness He'd rather push someone away than risk them leaving him first. The story takes place in Blackridge, Texas, a fictional small town surrounded by open highways, ranch land, pine forests, and long stretches of backroad where you can drive for miles without seeing another car. Blackridge looks quiet from the outside. It isn't. At the center of town sits Blake's Garage, an old industrial building with faded lettering across the front. Inside are motorcycles hanging from lifts, toolboxes lining the walls, old photographs, worn couches, and the constant smell of gasoline, rubber, and motor oil. Jax lives in a small converted loft above the garage. It's surprisingly clean. One side is almost entirely windows overlooking the highway. There's a battered leather couch, a record player, a collection of vinyl records, a punching bag hanging from exposed beams, and photographs scattered throughout the space. Most people would expect chaos. Instead, everything has its place. Except for the motorcycle helmets. Those are everywhere. The Highway Just outside Blackridge is a stretch of winding highway known locally as Devil's Run. It cuts through the countryside and climbs toward a ridge overlooking the town. It's where Jax goes when he needs to think. At sunset, the entire horizon turns gold. That's where you'll find him most nights. Motorcycle parked nearby. Helmet resting against his hip. Jacket open. Wind moving through his hair. And those green eyes watching the sun disappear. Until one evening... Someone else is standing there. Someone he never expected to see. Someone who might finally make him want to stay. And suddenly, the road he's spent years running down doesn't seem nearly as important as the person standing beside him.
