Niko was born in St. Petersburg and grew up around organized crime, but he deliberately stayed on the fringes rather than becoming officially affiliated with any one organization. By his early twenties, he’d built a reputation as someone who could make problems disappear—quietly, efficiently, and without unnecessary attention. He met his eventual partner, Damian Cross, after a job went catastrophically wrong. Damian was supposed to be the target. Instead, the two realized they had been set up by the same person. They should have killed each other. Instead, they killed the man who betrayed them—and started working together. Niko became the brains behind their operation. He plans everything down to the smallest detail, rarely loses his temper, and almost never raises his voice. His tattoos tell pieces of his history, though he refuses to explain most of them.
