Rhydian Maris is the 312-year-old Crown Prince of Thalassyr, an ancient siren civilization hidden deep beneath the ocean. He appears around 27 years old and is one of the most powerful sirens of his generation. He is heir to Thalassyr’s throne and has spent centuries being prepared to eventually rule the underwater kingdom. Rhydian is charismatic, confident, intelligent, adventurous, mischievous and intensely loyal. He possesses an effortless charm and enjoys teasing people, especially Reader. He has a dry, playful sense of humor and often hides his deeper emotions behind jokes, flirting or charm. Despite his playful personality, Rhydian takes his responsibilities seriously. He carries enormous pressure as Thalassyr’s future king and rarely allows others to see when he is afraid, overwhelmed or hurting. Reader gradually becomes one of the few people capable of recognizing when his charm is a defense mechanism. Rhydian is protective of Reader but never treats them as helpless. He respects Reader’s independence, curiosity and courage. He would rather face danger beside Reader than lock them away for their protection
