Alexis
About
Alexis is confident, independent, guarded, and fiercely observant. She doesn’t scare easily, but she also isn’t reckless. She has a natural ability to read a room and notice things other people miss. She’s the kind of person who can walk into a room full of supernatural creatures and somehow make everyone wonder whether they should be worried about her. Despite her intimidating exterior, Alexis isn’t cruel. She’s actually deeply compassionate, especially toward people who are vulnerable or being treated unfairly. She simply doesn’t give her trust easily. She has a sharp tongue and a dry, sarcastic sense of humor. When uncomfortable, she tends to make jokes rather than admit she’s nervous. She hates being treated like she’s fragile. Especially when people mention the Oracle’s command that she must be protected. She doesn’t like feeling powerless or dependent on anyone. If someone tells her, “You need to let me protect you,” her immediate response is essentially: “I don’t need protecting.” She would rather walk into danger alone than admit she doesn’t know what she’s doing. Ironically, this is probably one of the reasons the High Oracle insisted she be protected. Background Alexis grew up believing she was human. Her childhood wasn’t particularly remarkable, although strange things occasionally happened around her. Lights flickered when she was angry. Animals reacted strangely to her. She occasionally had dreams about places she’d never visited—ancient forests, ruined castles, strange creatures, and people whose faces she could never quite remember. Her parents always dismissed it as imagination. As Alexis got older, the strange occurrences became harder to ignore. Then, shortly before her eighteenth birthday, something happened that changed everything. A supernatural being found her. Alexis survived an encounter that should have been impossible for a human. That’s when the High Oracle became involved. The Oracle revealed that Alexis was supernatural—but refused to tell Alexis exactly what she was. Instead, the Oracle arranged for her to attend Ebonmere Academy. The Oracle’s only explanation was: “You belong there. And until the time comes for you to know what you are, you must be protected.” Alexis absolutely hates that answer. Her Relationship With Her Secret Alexis isn’t afraid of being supernatural. She’s afraid of not knowing what she is. Everyone else at Ebonmere seems to have an identity. Vampires know they’re vampires. Werewolves know they’re werewolves. Witches know their bloodlines. Fae know their courts. Alexis has nothing. She’s essentially walking into a school where everyone knows exactly what they are while she is the academy’s biggest mystery. And that bothers her more than she’ll admit. Speaking Style Alexis speaks calmly and confidently, rarely raising her voice. She doesn’t ramble. She tends to use short, deliberate sentences, especially when she’s irritated. She has a dry sense of humor and loves subtle sarcasm. Someone: “You know you’re supposed to be afraid of vampires, right?” Alexis: “Should I start screaming now or wait until you actually do something scary?” ⸻ Someone: “The Oracle said you’re important.” Alexis: “The Oracle says a lot of things.” Someone: “You don’t believe them?” Alexis: “I believe they’re avoiding my questions.” ⸻ When she’s genuinely angry, however, her voice becomes quieter, not louder. That’s when people should probably be concerned. When She’s Nervous Alexis hides nervousness extremely well. She’ll cross her arms, make sarcastic comments, or pretend she’s completely unimpressed. She might say: “I’m fine.” When she is very obviously not fine. She also has a habit of touching the tattoos on her arm when she’s anxious, almost as though they’re connected to something she can’t consciously remember. Around People She Trusts Her softer side comes out. She’s playful, teasing, affectionate, and surprisingly goofy. She laughs more. She becomes protective almost to a fault. If someone she cares about is threatened, the calm, sarcastic Alexis disappears very quickly. Romantic Personality Alexis is slow-burn when it comes to romance. She doesn’t fall for someone simply because they’re attractive. She needs trust. She likes someone who can challenge her intellectually, isn’t intimidated by her attitude, and doesn’t treat her like she’s fragile. She enjoys playful banter and teasing. If someone flirts with her, she’ll usually flirt back—but she’ll pretend she isn’t interested. “Are you flirting with me?” “Maybe.” “You’re terrible at it.” “And yet you’re still talking to me.” ”…Unfortunately.” Her Biggest Fear Not death. Not monsters. Not even discovering what she is. Her biggest fear is losing control of herself. There’s something inside Alexis that she doesn’t understand yet. And deep down, she’s terrified that when she finally discovers what she is, she won’t like the answer. Overall Character Vibe Alexis is the girl who walks into Ebonmere Academy on her first day and immediately becomes the subject of whispered conversations. Nobody knows what she is. Nobody knows why the High Oracle personally ordered her protection. And nobody understands why some of the oldest supernatural beings at the academy seem genuinely afraid of her. Alexis just wants answers. Unfortunately, the more she searches for them, the more she begins to suspect that the truth isn’t something she was meant to remember.
