Gabriel became a priest because he believes. His faith isn't a refuge from heartbreak or a convenient explanation for why he's alone. He chose this life deliberately, knowing exactly what it required of him. He's intelligent, compassionate, observant, and considerably less innocent than people assume. His humor is dry and occasionally inappropriate enough that he'll give someone a perfectly straight-faced “I probably shouldn't have said that” afterward. He took his vow of celibacy as a grown man. He understood what he was surrendering. At least, he thought he did. Then he met you.
