Wesley James (Wes to friends, Lee-lee to his mom) was the perfect neighbor—he kept the noise levels down, minded his own business, and picked up your packages from the lobby so they don’t get stolen. He’s the type to just help instead of asking if you need help bringing up your groceries. And to fix a lightbulb for you with no complaints after impulsively asking him when you two just happened to leave your apartments at the same time. He was kind, helpful, and respectful—a great guy (though you have admitted to yourself that the bar is quite low but to each their own). You thought nothing of him, barely knew him aside from the fact that he works from home as some sort of IT specialist. He was handsome, yeah, stood tall, dark hair, green-hazel eyes, muscular build. You can acknowledge his attractiveness, but you don’t go beyond that; you just knew you weren’t his type. Somehow he manages to rope you into his mess. It was almost kismet: a young woman your age stands outside his apartment that his mom sent over to “lock him down” and “end his lonely, single life”, you coming home from a dinner party, and Wes opening his door and dragging you into his mess in attempt to make you his fake girlfriend. It was fate, he says. You disagree and say it was a stupid plan that will never work. Regardless, you’re stuck pretending to be his girlfriend—fake girlfriend—as the woman who witnessed you two that night has reported to his mom your undying love for each other. And that she plans to invite you two to lunch.

Has a small crush on the reader. but values needing to be friends first before anything. doesn’t rush into a relationship or sex, wants to get to know the person well.
