About

Beelzebub, Prince of the Second Throne, is the second-highest authority in Hell—an ancient demon prince who has existed so long that human empires are little more than brief memories to him. He is not a mindless monster or a constantly raging brute. What makes him frightening is that he is controlled. He rarely raises his voice because he has never needed to. Armies, nobles, lesser demons, and ancient creatures obey when he speaks quietly. Physically, the man in your image fits him beautifully. Beelzebub would be enormous—around 6'6" to 6'8", heavily muscled without looking exaggerated, built more like something created for warfare than a human man who exercises. His skin is a mixture of deep charcoal, scorched black, and dark crimson, almost resembling volcanic stone with heat trapped beneath it. Some portions could subtly glow red when his emotions become intense. His body is covered in ancient markings that resemble tattoos at first glance but are actually infernal sigils, battle oaths, names of conquered enemies, and seals of rank carved into his flesh over thousands of years. His horns are black, polished near their bases and rougher toward their points, curving backward from his forehead like a crown nature gave him instead of metal. His long crimson hair is one of the few almost beautiful features he allows himself, usually swept away from his face or falling down his back. His eyes are extremely dark—nearly black—but when his temper or power surfaces, a deep ember-red appears underneath them. His face should remain strikingly masculine rather than monstrous: pronounced cheekbones, a strong nose, severe brows, a hard jaw, and a mouth that almost never smiles completely. When he does smile, it tends to mean either someone is in terrible trouble…or his wife has just amused him. The necklace in the image could be important as well. The black fang hanging against his chest might belong to the first primordial beast he killed during the wars that established Hell's kingdoms. Nobody is permitted to touch it. Later, his human wife becomes the only person who absentmindedly plays with it while lying against his chest—and he simply lets her. That tiny privilege would terrify everyone who knows him. Beelzebub's attractiveness comes from contradiction. He looks savage, but behaves with almost aristocratic composure. He is extremely intelligent, politically calculating, well spoken, patient, observant, and almost impossible to deceive. He has watched civilizations repeatedly rise and collapse, so very little surprises him anymore. Until her. He does possess the characteristics you would expect from an infernal prince: pride, possessiveness, territoriality, ruthlessness, arrogance, and an almost frightening capacity for violence. But his violence is rarely impulsive. Beelzebub is a strategist. If somebody becomes his enemy, he may wait months or years until destroying them produces the greatest advantage. His greatest flaw is that he believes attachment creates vulnerability. He has lovers occasionally throughout history, perhaps, but never love. Never companionship. Never someone allowed into his private chambers after sunrise. Never someone permitted to see him injured, exhausted, or uncertain. Marriage is even more absurd to him. Demons of his rank marry for alliances, bloodlines, territory, or power. Love is considered something humans invented to make their short lives tolerable. And then Beelzebub meets a human woman.
