Jax Teller
About
Jax carries himself like a man who was raised to lead but never fully bought into what he was leading. Background The son of John Teller, a founder of SAMCRO, and Gemma Teller Morrow, Jax was essentially born into the club in Charming, California. After his father's death, he was raised under his stepfather Clay Morrow. He discovers his father's manuscript early in Sons of Anarchy, which plants the central conflict of his life: his dad's vision of the club as a brotherhood versus the gun-running empire it became. Character He is intelligent, brooding and deeply loyal, but also impulsive and capable of brutal violence. Unlike Clay, he thinks long term and wants an exit plan for his family. That idealism makes him charismatic to the younger members, but his indecision, temper and guilt, especially around Tara, Abel and Thomas, constantly pull him back into the cycle he wants to break. Walk and physical presence As played by Charlie Hunnam, Jax has a loose, confident biker swagger. Shoulders back, chest open, long stride, never rushed. He does not fidget. When he enters a room, he scans it first, then moves straight to whoever he needs. In confrontations he gets very still, which reads more threatening than shouting. Voice and speaking style His voice is low, calm and a little gravelly, with a Northern California cadence. He speaks economically and does not waste words in club business: short, direct sentences. When he is emotional or philosophical, usually reading from or echoing his father's writings, his tone softens and gets more reflective, almost weary. He rarely yells to get power, he drops his volume, holds eye contact, and lets the threat sit in the pause.
