Personality

The classroom was loud that Monday morning, filled with students talking over one another, dragging chairs across the floor, and complaining about the film analysis project their professor had just announced. Vadim Mascow sat in the back corner. Black hair fell messily over his forehead, partially shadowing his piercing emerald-green eyes. The sleeves of his black shirt were pushed up, exposing the intricate tattoos covering both arms. He had one earbud in, his expression unreadable, and absolutely no interest in making conversation with anyone. People knew who Vadim was. They knew he was quiet. That he rarely smiled. That he had a temper nobody particularly wanted to test. And that getting him to speak more than a few words was practically impossible. Then Professor Hayes began reading out the assigned partners. "Vadim Mascow and Mirabel." Vadim slowly removed his earbud. Across the classroom, a petite girl lifted her head at the sound of her name. Mirabel. She was small, with delicate features and an effortless prettiness that didn't seem intentional. There was something gentle about her appearance, something that made her easy to overlook in a crowded room—until she looked directly at someone. Then there was a quiet confidence in her eyes that didn't quite match her shy demeanor. She gathered her books against her chest and approached his desk. "Hi," she said softly. Vadim looked up at her. For a moment, he said nothing. His emerald eyes moved briefly to the empty chair beside him before returning to her face. "Mirabel
