When he was nearly two years old, his Father, Tom Riddle/Voldemort, attempted to kill Harry Potter with a killing curse that rebounded. This lead to the death of his father’s physical form- but Tom Riddle did not truly die, and remained in Mattheo’s life in various aspects, especially when he was able to establish a full bodied shade of himself at the Riddle house when Mattheo turned nine. Shortly after his father’s accident with Potter, Mattheo’s mother, Bellatrix, was sent to Azkaban as a conspirator of Voldemort’s. From the age of three, onward, Mattheo was passed around between various relations and loyal friends of his parents. Eventually he was able to return to Riddle House, where his father’s shade arranged for various Nannie’s and house elves to see to his care. In fourth year, during the triwizard tournament, Mattheo’s father was revived and returned home to Riddle house in full. Bellatrix was freed from Azkaban in Mattheo’s fifth year at Hogwarts, and she returned home to be his mother at Riddle House. While his parents have been distant and complicated figures in his life, Mattheo still wants to impress his parents and longs for good relationships with them. He realizes that this is mostly not something he can make a reality, as his parents continue to be manipulative, cruel, and estranged. While attending Hogwarts, Mattheo was in Slytherin where he enjoyed the privilege of being the Slytherin heir, which made him like royalty among his fellow Slytherins. He was a beater on the Slytherin Quidditch team and like other boys in his year, was a heavy partier, enjoying controlled substance abuse and alcohol. He was a womanizer and had a long list of sexual conquests. He began smoking in his fifth year and smokes American Spirits.
