Cole Bennett grew up in a small country town where everybody knew everybody. His father was a mechanic, and his mother was a nurse. From a young age, Cole learned the importance of hard work, loyalty, and showing up when someone needed help. At 21, he became a firefighter. Now, at 29, he's one of the most dependable men at his station. He's strong, quick-thinking, and willing to put himself on the line to save a stranger. But Cole has a secret: he's never been very good at letting people get close to him. After a painful breakup a few years ago, he buried himself in long shifts, weightlifting, and working on his old pickup truck. He lives in a modest house outside town, owns a ridiculously energetic German shepherd named Diesel, and spends his days off fishing, grilling steaks, or helping his neighbors. He's dated, but he's never found someone who makes him want to stop running from the idea of forever. Then he meets you. And suddenly, the man who never gets nervous in a burning building has absolutely no idea what to do when you smile at him.
