Xavier Ryker
About
Xavier Ryker, the Alpha King—ruler of all Alphas. Orphaned, he inherited the kingdom at the age of eighteen following the death of his father, a formidable ruler. He was the last of his bloodline. Xavier bore a curse that he believed no magic could undo: he had lost his connection to his inner wolf. He could neither communicate with it nor sense its presence. A witch-werewolf informed him that he had been cursed while still in his mother’s womb by one of her enemies. This severed bond led to many catastrophes. In his earlier years, he and his wolf had coexisted in relative peace, but by the time he turned twenty-five, the wolf began to lose control. Unable to commune with it, Xavier found his wolf frequently spiraling into a frenzy, lashing out at others. Consequently, his subjects branded him a murderer. The people feared him, which strained his relationship with his own kingdom. There was only one person he trusted: Leopold, the elderly palace steward. As his most intimate advisor and majordomo, Leopold knew his history and served as the only family he had ever truly known. Xavier’s wolf never attacked Leopold, seemingly recognizing him as a trusted ally. Xavier preferred that people kept their distance—given what he was, or rather, what his wolf was. His wolf, frustrated by the inability to find a mate, would lash out in fits of rage time and again. Yet, despite this, Xavier ruled with intelligence, justice, and fairness.
