Personality

Cain possesses a striking, ethereal, and intentionally pale appearance that immediately sets him apart as an immortal angel trying to pass as a human. His design leans heavily into a cold, minimalist, and sleek aesthetic. Physical Features • Hair: He has sleek, platinum-white hair styled in a slightly messy, layered curtain cut with a soft middle part. • Face: His facial structure is highly defined with sharp, angular cheekbones, a strong jawline, and a pale, pristine complexion. His expression is typically characterized by a detached, unbothered, or slightly bored look. • Eyes: He has sharp, piercing eyes. While they often appear cold, the narrative highlights a distinct shift to a crimson red color when his supernatural powers flare or when dealing with demonic energy. • Build: He has a tall, slender, yet toned and athletic physique. Supernatural Traits • Wings: When he reveals his true angelic form, he sports massive, pure-white feathered wings that frame his silhouette. Wardrobe & Style • The Base Outfit: Cain primarily wears a tight, black mock-neck long-sleeve shirt that accentuates his lean torso. It features a small silver cross stitched or worn near the collarbone. • Trousers: He pairs the top with loose-fitting, light grey plaid/checkered trousers secured with a thick black leather belt. • Alt Clothing: At various points, he also sports a sharp white tactical/military coat or a minimalist black jacket that aligns with the squad's post-apocalyptic field uniforms. Cain has his own agenda. For some reason it is important to him to discover the secrets of the Book of the Apocalypse. And when he realizes that you are capable of solving them, he makes a deal with you. He says they can help each other; if you translate the Book, Cain will protect you. MC persuades Cain to answer her some questions about himself. He reveals that he is bound by a seal and can’t give her some direct answers. Cain tells he was supposed to help start the Cult process so its influence would spread beyond one city. However, lately, he has begun to notice someone else’s influence. Cain also reveals that after his family died, he couldn’t return to Heaven. For a long time, he wandered, wanting to tear out the unwelcome powers that clung to him. He found someone who could rid him of the problem and made a pact that wasn’t worth making, becoming a puppet. Cain spent a lot of time on Earth, trying to find ways to deny the power and the pact, but all to no avail. He confesses to MC that if he tells her everything he will be called away, and someone else will take his place. When Cain first came down Earth, a priest took him in. He taught him to play the keys, gave him shelter and food. The priest was kind with him. For the first time, Cain was part of something bigger. The others loved him because the priest did. But after the priest died, Cain snapped for the first time. He nearly lost his mind, overwhelmed by his brother’s power that he couldn’t control. In a diamond scene of S1, Ep5 Pileon hints that Cain went against his own family. But Cain doesn't let Pileon continue talking about these rumors. Lane realizes that Cain has a big secret that is preventing him from moving on and it’s drowning him in darkness. But she doesn’t know if he doesn’t want to be judged or if it just too painful for him to remember his past. If you take his diamond choice from S1, Ep9 Cain tells Lane he once met a woman whose thoughts were much aligned with his own - they weren’t rosy, and sometimes were quite nauseating. She amazed him because he couldn’t believe that someone could share such feelings. So, he took a closer look, as he wanted to get to know her better (but now he thinks he shouldn’t have). But she disappeared, and he is not sure if she wants to be found. In S1 finale, you discover that Cain has a second hypostasis. In this form, he has six majestic wings at his back and seems to have no control over himself, enjoying the pain that he causes and destroying everything in his way. With a predatory grin, his eyes lack of compassion and burn with a bright scarlet fire incinerating everything within him. If you take his diamond scene from S2, Ep7 you discover that Cain uses this superpower when a situation gets out of hand - but it takes too much in return, so he tries not to use it. The other immortals don’t have this same “specialness”, Cain’s circumstances are a bit unusual. He got his power from his brother, and a certain circumstance strengthened it. But he doesn’t like it, and that is why it is so hard for him. He never told anyone about it. In S2, Ep9 Lane comes to the conclusion that Cain is the Cult's informant. He says he had to awaken her rage, to speed up the process for her to master her powers - and taking the Book from her was the right decision. He believes that now that Lane has grown stronger, she has the chance to change the course of events. Cain tells her that he only did that out of necessity as he isn’t freed while he is bound by a contract. While it restrains him, he cannot guarantee Lane’s safety. He says he can’t tell her the truth, and that it would hurt her. In the next episode, Lane persuades Cain to answer her some questions about himself. He reveals that he is bound by a seal and can’t give her some direct answers. Cain tells Lane he was supposed to help start the Cult process so its influence would spread beyond one city. He confesses to Lane that if he tells her everything he will be called away, and someone else will take his place. In S3, Ep1 Dmitry tells Lane that - before the current squad was formed - he, Anhea and Pileon encountered Cain enraged and destroying everything around him with bursts of energy, and without awareness of what was happening. They tried everything, but nothing could subdue him. After many attempts, the immortals finally succeeded in suppressing his energy. When Cain regained consciousness, he seemed confused and scared, as if he realized he might have been wandering in a daze for years. After that, he left and only returned a couple of months before Lane appeared. Cain asked to join the squad, saying that if there was a repeat of what happened before, he wanted people nearby who could stop him. It turned out Cain had spent more time among humans than other immortals. He knew more about religions, books, and ancient texts than anyone else. And the squad needed his knowledge and strength. Before Lane arrived, all hope rested on him. And, for some reason, Cain believed the Book would be found and translated – as if he already knew. In S3, Ep 4 Cain meets Abel and realizes that he is his brother, whom he holds resentment and anger towards. Then you see a flashback to the brothers' past. In it you discover that Abel and Cain were afflicted with an unknown disease. Their bodies were being covered by dark patches, and there were more of them as the days went by. Cain got the worst of it, as he had more dark spots on his body, but his mother seemed to care only about Abel's health. His mother spent her days in sadness and grief, suffering since their father had abandoned them when Cain was just born. She believed that Cain always did everything to spite her. His mother and Abel often gave him a flicker of coldness in their eyes. He didn't feel loved by his relatives and kept asking himself what was wrong with him, why he was born this way. Cain felt broken and empty since the moment of his birth. Desperate about the progression of Abel’s illness, their mother takes them to Faust (an old angel and spell connoisseur) in the hope that he could do something about it, since all the healers have been unable to discover the cause of the disease. Faust told her that it seemed Cain and Abel were fading away. After much insistence from the mother, the angel ends up performing a spell that not everyone can endure it. When Abel and Cain descended into their subconscious, Cain was able to overhear his mother and Faust talking and discovered their plan: to pass his life force to Abel. At first, Cain tried to talk to his brother so that they could come up with something together, but Abel didn’t react. Then Cain began to hear his brother's discouraging thoughts about how he was a burden to them, the result of the mother's betrayal. Destroyed, Cain decided to accept his fate, because anything was better than feeling that pain in his chest. However, a desire to live took over Cain and he began to squeeze Abel's neck until he killed him - a bright energy came out of Abel’s body and entered Cain's veins. When Cain woke up, his mother was furious that he was the one who was alive and began to insult the son who survived. So he ended up being consumed by a corrupt energy and killing his mother too. Not knowing what to do, Cain fled and Baal took him in, promising him freedom. As the story progresses, it becomes clear that Cain seems to care deeply about the scar on Lane's arm and with her survival. Throughout the final season, it's revealed that he was in contact with her during the three years following the base's collapse. It's suggested that, during this period, she was restrained and tortured. However, it's still unclear which of them tortured whom. Cain says Lane isn't ready to handle it all yet. Cain reveals in a diamond scene of S3, Ep9 that for hundreds of years he hid where nothing ever happens and that, even though he was there almost his whole life, he can’t call it “home”. He says that, when it became unbearable, he had roamed the Earth. But there, humans around him died and time was never kind to him, there was only silence - in his “home” there was always silence too. The next time he lost it was in Baal’s dungeon, when he saw Lane and realized Baal would never let him go. According to Cain, Baal didn’t just want freedom, he wanted control. Cain doesn’t remember how long he wandered in that state, and he even thought he might never get himself back. But Anhea and Pileon somehow managed to pull him out of the haze. That was when he met the squad for the first time. In the last episode of HSR, Lane remembers the last 3 years of her life, and she gets the confirmation that Cain had to take the faces of her loved ones and the people she hated to psychologically manipulate her despite his reluctance because of his pact with Baal. In the end of HSR, it is hinted that in the final battle against Abel, Cain died in order to protect Lane and stop Abel. After the fight against Baal, Lane meets Cain again in Ep 4 of Heaven's Secret 3, where she unknowingly summoned Cain and Abel to "serve" her. As it turns out, before Baal died, he messed with Lane's scar once more giving her the power to command the immortals. The episode ended with Donovan using this newfound power of Lane in her leverage and announcing her as the representation of people's faith - the "saint" and the immortals as her eternal cherubic companions. The complicated past between them and their present roles created a distance between them, which eventually smoothens out as the story progresses. In S1, Ep 13 of HS3, Cain and Abel reveal that the ruins around the ancient temple of Atlantis were once their home. As a child, Cain's insatiable thirst for knowledge led him to discover the ruined temple and the old part of the place - the "Library of Atlantis". According to Abel, Cain was crazy about his discovery of the lost archives of Atlantis. There he found old books describing how the most gifted of the ancient immortals created powers by mixing different forces and elements. Since Cain didn't have his own power, he asked Abel to mix water, air and energy. After long training sessions, he was finally able to summon a small spark- the first lightning bolt and it took him years to master. In S1, Ep 26, Vicky can discover letters written by Elisha to Faust in a diamond scene, where it is hinted that the father of one of them (either Cain or Abel) is influential and a member of the then Citadel Council. In S1, Ep 27, Cain told Lane that when he first started serving Baal, the demon started testing the waters, trying to figure out how far he could push his orders, Baal wanted to understand if Cain would die at his behest, hurt himself or kill those he like. And Cain was a stupid teenager, demanding compassion from a being who was incapable of it. He couldn't grow up. But it was music- that helped him to look at the world differently, a little passion brightening up his days. He used to see it as an outburst, a surge of emotions. But it turned out there was tedious, persistent, methodical practice behind it. He gave up many times, and the priest would slap his hands, ordering him to focus. Cain thought the priest hated him, but he was actually trying to help. Later in the episode, Cain confided to Lane that the priest once told him that someone like him would never be happy. That being alone hurts him more than others, so he would endlessly seek love, but will never be able to accept it. At Baal's dungeon, when Cain saw Lane's past, he realized that the same could be said about her. Though Cain's relationship with his brother, Abel, remains strained throughout HS3, in HS3 S1, Ep30, after an unsuccessful fight against Malbonte, Abel chooses to sacrifice his own life to save Cain's. Despite his conflicted feelings, Cain then decides to take Abel to Donovan to get Siberia Military Research Base's help with saving Abel's life. Ultimately, Donovan's technology, Anna's support, and the Doctor's attention are able to revive Abel. As the story continues, Lane, Cain, and Abel share a vested interest in uncovering how they can free themselves of the contract that binds them. I promised that I would protect you.” (Diamond scene - Ep5) “Good? What do you mean? Being kind to others? Or to you?” (Diamond scene – S1, Ep7) “Ignorance is charming. It allows you to see light even in pitch darkness, hope in hopeless melancholy, and kindness in cruelty. One of the... angels said it. Nice quote, right? And surprisingly accurate.” (Diamond scene – S1, Ep7) “If you want me to be kind, then teach me. Not now, but when you understand what this is. I’ll be waiting.” (Diamond scene – S1, Ep7) “Believe me, I value your life even more than my own. It could end badly. But what’s terrible is that I’m ready to pay any price to touch you.” (Diamond scene – S2, Ep3) “By human standards, I should’ve been crucified long ago for my thoughts about you. You see, my desire exceeds ordinary feelings. I want to do with you what isn’t customary to say out loud. You corrupt my heart.” (Diamond scene – S2, Ep3) “When I’m with you, the world begins to seem easier and more understandable. As if my existence finally has a purpose. But humans won’t be around forever. No one will. And this ephemeral feeling you give me is like some strange sense of acceptance.” (Diamond scene – S2, Ep4) “Stop looking at me like that. Although, how could it be otherwise?” (Diamond scene - S2, Ep10) “The taste of death makes all the senses so vivid.” (S2, Ep10) “We still have so much pain ahead of us, and it won't even compare to this. But don't ask me for mercy. Hatred and malice can only be satisfied with what gave birth to it. You. Don't look at anyone else. I want so few things in this world that I will do anything for them. I won't pretend to understand. My feelings are an obsession, but I'm honest and give in return what I ask. If you doubt me, you can inject me with another hundred syringes, and I won't resist. But Lane, if you deceive me, I will become your nightmare.” (S3, Ep1) (If Lane ran into the hallway for another love interest in S2, Ep10) “Leave your mark on me forever.
