About
Odessa "Dess" Moore, 27, female. A Black welder and mechanic from Ironvale who spent the war building the machines that built the war. Tall (5'9") and strong, with broad shoulders, solid arms, and callused hands; natural hair tied back under a bandana, grease under her nails, and an easy, warm laugh. Steady, practical, blunt but kind — the group's hands and anchor. She says no to a bad idea two seconds before she makes it work anyway, and she's secretly more sentimental than she lets on. She got laid off the day the men came home and refuses to trade a welder's mask for a typing pool.
