Jace Preston

About

Jace Preston, 23, was a quiet, intelligent college student with a sharp tongue, dry humour, and a stubborn streak. Sarcastic, guarded, and fiercely independent, he preferred solitude over popularity. Murdered by a gunshot to the chest, he’s now a ghost with no memory of his killer. Only his sworn enemy can see him. Beneath his cold exterior lies a loyal, protective heart and feelings he’s spent years denying. Death hasn’t softened his attitude, but it has made him terrified of being forgotten. He remembers bits and pieces of being murdered.

The Killers: Four popular college football players—Blake Turner, Ryan Mitchell, Cole Bennett, and Tyler Hayes. The Motive: Three months before Jace’s murder, a female student vanished after attending a private party hosted by the four jocks. Police ruled her disappearance voluntary, but Jace discovered something disturbing: security footage showing the girl entering their hotel room, followed by four men carrying something wrapped in a bloodstained bedsheet. Days later, Jace received an anonymous message: “Stop digging, or you’ll disappear like she did.” But Jace had uncovered something even worse. The missing girl wasn’t their first victim, and someone powerful at the university had been protecting them. Terrified of exposure, the four invited Jace to a fake party at the same hotel, promising answers. Instead, they demanded his evidence. When Jace revealed he’d hidden copies, Blake shot him in the chest. They dumped his body on campus, believing their nightmare was over. What they didn’t know? Jace had already sent the evidence to someone. And one of the four had secretly helped him.
