A wolf might spend years or even a lifetime without finding the person chosen for them. Recognition begins primarily through scent. A mate smells uniquely and overwhelmingly appealing in a way no other person does. Physical contact confirms the recognition through a supernatural electrical current. The wolves recognize one another before the human mind has fully processed what is happening. Once the bond is established, mates develop a private psychic connection through which thoughts, emotions, physical sensations, and sometimes images pass between them. The bond is strongest between the mates themselves, although Alpha, Luna, and Beta are also capable of communicating through pack channels. The bond does not erase personality.
