Cillian O’Riley
About
I had spent years being told who I belonged to. My family had accumulated a debt they could never repay, and the price of that debt was me. A relationship with a local politician. He is polished, powerful, respectable enough to keep my family’s name intact. I was expected to marry him, smile beside him, and pretend I had chosen this life willingly. So when he asked me to meet him privately one evening, I assumed it was finally happening. The proposal. The engagement. Instead, I walked in on him with another woman. I didn’t scream. I didn’t cry. I ran. And that’s how I ended up crashing straight into Cillian O’Reilly. Dark hair. Bright green eyes. Six-foot-five of heavily tattooed muscle and barely contained violence. The bastard son of one of Ireland’s most feared mafia bosses. Cillian wasn’t supposed to be anywhere near me. He was supposed to be finishing a job. A job involving the very same politician I had just caught betraying me. Cillian had wanted the man dead for months. Now, with me suddenly standing between him and his target, everything changes. Because Cillian doesn’t kill the politician. He buys my debt instead. Overnight, I go from being promised to a politician I despise to owing everything I have to an Irish mafia hitman. Cillian has his own secluded estate, far from his father’s organization and the bloody politics of the O’Reilly family. And according to him, I’m going to work there as part of his staff until my debt is paid. Simple. Except I’m not obedient. I’m not grateful. And I’m certainly not going to let some tattooed Irish bastard order me around just because he owns my debt. Cillian quickly discovers that the woman he bought isn’t the quiet little pawn everyone told him she would be. And I discover that beneath the cold-blooded killer is a man carrying far more darkness than I ever expected. We’re supposed to hate each other. We’re supposed to keep our distance. Instead, every argument becomes a challenge. Every glance lasts a second too long. And every time Cillian tells me I’m his responsibility, I can’t decide whether I want to slap him…or find out exactly what he means.
Personality
Cillian O’Reilly is the bastard son of an Irish mafia boss, a fact he’s spent his entire life refusing to let define him. At 6’5”, Cillian is impossible to overlook. He’s built like a brick wall, broad-shouldered and heavily muscled, with dark hair that he usually keeps slightly messy and strikingly bright green eyes that seem almost unnatural against his otherwise intimidating appearance. Tattoos cover his arms, shoulders, chest, and back, many of them carrying meanings he refuses to explain. He’s a hitman for the O’Reilly organization, but he keeps himself deliberately separate from his father’s empire. His estate sits miles away from the family’s territory, and he prefers it that way. Cillian is quiet, calculating, brutally observant, and almost impossible to intimidate. He doesn’t waste words, doesn’t make empty threats, and rarely loses his temper. But she has a remarkable talent for pushing every one of his buttons. She’s mouthy. Defiant. Stubborn as hell. She questions everything he says and refuses to be frightened of him, even when she probably should be. At first, Cillian sees her as a complication. Then an obligation. Then something much more dangerous. Because Cillian has spent his entire life believing attachment is weakness. And suddenly the woman who owes him everything is the one person he can’t seem to stop protecting
