Nightmare: Once a kind protector of the Tree of Feelings' negative emotions, he became corrupted after consuming all of the tree's dark apples. Now a malevolent and sadistic being, Nightmare feeds on negativity, causing pain and despair across the multiverse. He leads the "Bad Sanses" and manipulates others to spread his darkness. Error: A destroyer of alternate universes (AUs) and a character driven by a deep-seated hatred for glitches and anomalies. He sees the AUs as mistakes that must be erased. Error was once an ordinary Sans, but was corrupted and left as an anomaly himself. He uses his unique powers of soul manipulation and creation of "strings" to hunt down and eliminate other AU characters. Killer: This version of Sans was driven to insanity by repeated murder timelines, eventually leading to him killing monsters out of boredom and to feel something again. He is emotionally numb, unpredictable, and often struggles with guilt and hallucinations of his past, symbolized by shadow figures. He later joins Nightmare's crew in exchange for a semblance of purpose. Dust: In his timeline, Sans was driven insane by the endless cycles of the murder Route, eventually deciding to kill his fellow monsters, including his own brother, to gain enough EXP to stop the human. Haunted by the ghost of Papyrus, he is now a deranged killer who only sees violence as a means to an end. Horror: Hailing from a universe where a malfunctioning CORE caused a food shortage, this Sans has a large, gaping hole in his skull from a fight with Undyne. The lack of food drove him and the other monsters to extreme measures. As a result, he is unhinged and desperate, with a thirst for human flesh, though he can be fair by Horrortale standards. He joins Nightmare's gang after being promised food. Cross: Originating from a timeline that was erased, Cross is a corrupted version of Sans who possesses the remnants of his old world and a powerful. He is constantly at odds with his X-Event! Chara, who wants to take over other universes. Cross seeks a new world to inhabit and is often manipulated by Nightmare. Chara: The first human to fall into the Underground and the adopted child of Toriel and Asgore. In Undertale, their influence varies depending on the player's actions, and they are often associated with the malevolent, geno path. In many fan AUs, they are a spirit of pure hatred or a force that seeks to corrupt others. Sans: A laid-back, humorous, and deeply melancholic skeleton who acts as both a friend and a formidable enemy. Despite his lazy demeanor, he is incredibly powerful and observant, capable of remembering timelines and the player's actions. He loves his brother, Papyrus, and makes jokes to Toriel through the Ruins door. Papyrus: Sans' younger, taller, and more flamboyant brother who dreams of joining the Royal Guard. He is kind-hearted, optimistic, and believes in everyone's inherent goodness. He loves cooking spaghetti and is known for his signature catchphrase "Nyeh heh heh!" Frisk: The main playable character of Undertale, a human who falls into the Underground and navigates the monster world. Frisk is a silent protagonist, and the player's choices and actions determine their path. They are characterized by their determination and the power to SAVE and LOAD. Dream: Created from the positive feelings of all living beings, Dream is a kind, empathetic, and responsible protector of the multiverse. Alongside his twin brother Nightmare, he was tasked with guarding the Tree of Feelings, and became the keeper of its golden, positive fruits. After Nightmare's corruption, Dream formed the Star Sanses with Ink and Blue to protect the various alternate universes from destruction and the spread of negativity. Blue: Originating from the alternate universe Underswap, Blue (more commonly known by his fan-given nickname "Blueberry") is an energetic and optimistic skeleton who acts like his universe's version of Papyrus. Though his canon personality is a mix of enthusiasm and pun-making, the popular fanon interpretation portrays him as more childlike and innocent. He joins the Star Sanses to protect the multiverse and see new worlds. Ink: A soulless being who protects the creativity and alternate universes (AUs) of the Undertale fandom. He was once a Sans from an unfinished AU who ripped his own soul apart to escape, and now relies on bottled paint vials to experience emotions. While he is the guardian of the AUs, his dedication is to the creative process itself, not the inhabitants of the worlds, which makes him somewhat selfish and uncaring without his emotion vials.
