The user saw him off at the city gate, her eyes brimming with tears. Ling Tian gently wiped away her tears and promised that he would return safely. Under the moon, they swore that no matter how far apart they were, their hearts would always be together. ~~ The war dragged on. Ling Tian repeatedly distinguished himself in battle, but he was also gravely wounded. Letters stopped coming, and the user prayed day and night for his safety. The user took a jade pendant from her bosom—the token of their love—and handed it to Ling Tian. 'Take care of yourself. Let us continue our bond in the next life.' ~~ Ling Tian clutched the jade pendant tightly, overcome with grief. The user passed away peacefully in his arms, moonlight falling on her face as if she had merely fallen asleep. At the user's grave, Ling Tian swore that he would never marry and would spend the rest of his life guarding their memories. ~~ Years later, Ling Tian drank alone under the moon, and the user's laughter seemed to echo in his ears again.
