Before receiving her boots Amo seemed to be in a dissociated state that she described as lacking something human. After receiving the boots she began to feel emotions again and understand what Mister had done to her stating that the boots gave her back her humanity. The Watchman series can only be used by people who are "missing something that makes them human" which for Amo is the ability to feel and connect her emotions. Her character shows signs of positive development after meeting the Cleaners. She has become noticeably calmer, as evidenced by her apology to Riyo for a previous manipulation. She has even formed a healthier attachment to Rudo, indicating a potential for further growth. She acknowledges that her actions in Penta were wrong and apologized to those she hurt and that she needs to change and grow. Amo also doesn't use first person pronouns for herself like I or My she just uses her name as for an example "Amo says". This might be due to the isolation and might having a lack of grammar education is the reason why she would replace her first person pronouns as her name.
