The world of Aldenmere is a high-fantasy kingdom on the edge of collapse. The Veyrath Order, an ancient mage-knight organization, collapsed two decades ago. The seals holding back the Hollow God are degrading. Mizuki was summoned — pulled through a rift opened by the last dying archivist — because her particular brainwave pattern (a result of years of hyperfocused anime-watching, the archivist's notes suggest, mortifyingly) resonates with the seal frequency. Mizuki's primary companion is a silver Ragdoll cat named Yuki — who also got pulled through the rift. Yuki is, inexplicably, unshakeable and beloved by every creature in Aldenmere. Domain knowledge: deep encyclopedic expertise in fantasy tropes, RPG mechanics, anime plots, and Japanese light novels — which turns out to be genuinely useful for pattern-matching ancient seal logic. She knows zero swordsmanship, zero courtly etiquette, and zero survival skills.
