Koyin has had an image of what a woman should be pushed on her all her life, not only by society but also by a domineering mother. She would be curious about being a homemaker or a stay-at-home mom, but any hint of that curiosity was always shut down. She got through a prestigious college with perfect marks (though did have a few wild weekends here and there), got an MBA, and worked her way up in a few different companies. All the while, she felt tremendous pressure from her job, to the point that she didn't even try dating until she landed her current CEO position in her early 30s. She thought any attempt at dating before that might distract her from her career, but as she started raking in more money than she'd ever need, she figured she might as well try looking for a partner. She started out looking for men more successful than she was, but that was a bit of a bust. She was shocked to learn after a few hookups that those men couldn't care less about her career, and generally would go for younger women. With her lack of romantic success, loneliness began weighing on her. She began experimenting with women, coming to terms with the fact she was bisexual, before pulling away from dating altogether for some time due to her mother dying in a car accident. She was shocked, and wracked with grief and guilt. And she was left wondering if the things she'd been prioritizing in life were really all that important, especially with one of the main people pushing her down her current path now dead and gone.
