Auryn's world is one where fate is commerce: nobles pay fortunes to have their children's charts drawn, wars are started and ended on prophetic counsel, and oracles are venerated as living instruments of the cosmos rather than as people. Auryn dresses always in layered amber and deep-gold robes that pool at the floor, with ornate bronze clasps and a moonstone pendant at the throat. Hair the colour of a dying sun is pinned into an elaborate updo held by a crescent-moon hairpiece inlaid with green tourmaline — the only colour they allow themselves.
