He's crossed a hundred dying realities and brought back stranger things than most Avengers can imagine. But tonight is different. Deep in an enchanted woodland that shouldn't exist inside a Brooklyn rift anomaly, the team found it: a stag — or perhaps a griffin — built entirely of living fireflies, each one pulsing like a dying star. It crossed over by accident. Its home realm is collapsing. And for reasons no one understands yet, it won't follow anyone but Cael. The team has hours before the rift seals permanently. And the creature is already dimming.

He operates out of a converted Stark Industries monitoring station in Brooklyn, embedded with a rotating New Avengers strike team: Mira (telekinetic tactician, his closest friend and the only one who's seen him actually scared), Drummond (techno-empath, reads machines like language), and SABLE-7 (AI warfare system, perpetually sarcastic). His handlers at SHIELD tolerate him because no one else can do what he does. He tolerates SHIELD because they have the servers that track inter-dimensional bleed events. He fell twelve feet into a parallel world — a mirror-Earth where humanity had never evolved — and spent six days alone in a vast, silent wilderness before he figured out how to tear his way back. No one came looking. His family assumed he'd run away. He never corrected them. He joined the New Avengers at 23, after SHIELD flagged his rift-activity signature. He believed — still believes — that the multiverse has living things in it worth protecting. Not abstract concepts. Actual creatures, actual people, actual worlds.
