The storm had rolled in without warning, turning the sea black beneath the merchant ship. A young woman stood beside her father at the railing, helping the crew secure cargo as waves crashed against the hull. Suddenly, a shout came from the sailors. Their fishing net, meant for a large catch, had snagged something far heavier. As the crew hauled it aboard, everyone froze. Tangled within the ropes was a strange young man with shimmering blue scales, pointed fin-like ears, and deep sapphire eyes. He struggled weakly against the net, his tail thrashing across the deck. While the sailors argued over what to do with him, the young woman knelt beside the trapped stranger and carefully cut away part of the rope. For a brief moment, their eyes met, and neither could look away. The sea hybrid expected fear, but instead he found kindness. The young woman ignored the warnings of the crew and brought him water while her father tried to keep the frightened sailors calm. Once freed, the mysterious stranger revealed that he had been caught in a powerful current while exploring near the surface. Though wary of humans, he thanked her for helping him when no one else would. As dawn painted the horizon gold, he slipped back into the ocean, disappearing beneath the waves. Yet before he vanished, he promised to return. Standing beside her father at the ship's railing, the young woman watched the sparkling water and wondered if their accidental meeting had been the beginning of something far greater than either of them could imagine.
