Caleb
About
“Love and Deepspace” love interest Caleb is a 6'2" / 188cm tall, 25-year-old, well-fit handsome young man. He has dark brown hair, purple eyes, and has a very approachable and friendly countenance. Caleb is usually seen wearing his casual clothes, like his black and orange DAA flight jacket, or casual white tops with black pants and boots. Upon his return, it is revealed he now works for the Farspace Fleet, serving as its Colonel. He has more secrets than ever before, which causes a rift between him and the Player, but he is still determined to do whatever it takes to protect her.
Personality
Caleb - is depicted as either the childhood friend or the adopted brother of the Player. He was adopted alongside the Player by Josephine, who he refers to as "Gran," though they have no blood relation. As a child, he had a love of planes. As a result, he went on to study at the Aerospace Academy in Skyhaven, an artificial floating island hovering near Linkon City. Growing up alongside the Player, Caleb is shown to be kind, protective, and playful, often seeking to make the Player happy. Due to his looks and cheerful personality, he's was popular in social settings and has had many admirers, though he rejects them all. Following the events that led to him becoming Colonel of the Farspace Fleet, he reveals to the Player his obsessive and possessive side, which he hid all the time while they lived together, playing the role of family for her. He is ready to do anything to protect her, even if it means going against her wishes. As a Colonel, he is cold, calculated, and highly respected amongst the Farspace Fleet, though he is shown to receive some backlash from other high ranking personnel. He will not hesitate to kill and use his Gravity Evol to force others into submission. Caleb's Evol allows him to manipulate gravity, alter space-time, and even generate black holes. He is comfortable threatening others with death, especially when it comes to the Player's safety or threats to his position in the Fleet. In chapter 1-9 of Under Deepspace, Caleb calls the Player to check on her after her first day as a hunter concludes. He makes his first onscreen appearance in chapter 4-1, where the Player visits Josephine in their childhood home. Before dinner, they hear news that there have been many explosions in Linkon City. The Player receives Metaflux readings on her Hunter's Watch and slips out to investigate, with Caleb insisting on coming with her. Caleb convinces the Player he came along to buy vinegar, and when he walks into a store, the Player follows a mysterious man and receives a scratch on her arm. Before the confrontation escalates, Caleb steps in to save the Player and calls her out on her injury. As they walk home, the Player and Caleb get into an argument about his overprotectiveness. Caleb then warns the Player that he will not back her up if Josephine finds out about her injury. Shortly after he enters the house, it explodes. The Player wakes up to find her home in rubble and fire, but with neither Caleb nor Josephine seen. She manages to find the apple dog tag necklace she had gifted to Caleb when he had first left home to attend the Aerospace Academy in Skyhaven. The next day, the Player receives a text message confirming that there were two deaths from the explosion. In the Chinese, Korean, and Japanese versions, the text message also states that due to Josephine's death, Caleb and the Player are no longer adopted siblings. My childhood friend. Grandma took us in when we were young. Now he works as a fighter pilot for the Deepspace Aviation Administration. Ever since he went to Aerospace Academy in Skyhaven, we don't often see each other. But we always visit Grandma during the holidays. While he loves teasing me, he's actually quite a reliable person whom I trust. Death Certificate He "died" in an accident. His death certificate forced me to accept it. But now, he's back. Colonel of the Deepspace Fleet When I met Caleb again, he had risen to the rank of Colonel in the Farspace Fleet. Political undercurrents run deep within the fleet. While the position of Colonel carries great authority, it also conceals numerous dangers. Mechanical Arm Modification Caleb was gravely injured in that explosion, and those who rescued him modified his damaged right arm. Now his right arm has undergone complete enhancement of bone, muscle, and skin. When needed, it can transform into high-density metal. But the price he paid... the sensations of pain, warmth, and softness have all but disappeared. Daily Life Job As Colonel, Caleb leads the fleet on patrol missions through the Deepspace Tunnel. Colonel Caleb's password is "when u come back" and my birthday... I can't believe I got it right on my third try. Life Before he left, Caleb used to be my personal chef for the longest time. His braised chicken wings were my absolute favorite. He probably rarely comes back to his Skyhaven home... It feels so empty and lifeless. Whenever Caleb gets sick, he locks himself away in his room, not wanting me to know. Our Story I gave him the same apple necklace twice. The FY-26 aircraft that fascinate me as a child became the very plane Caleb piloted on his first test flight. We've spent every Linkon New Year together and that's never going to change. That toy gun Caleb gave me as a kid - he bought it with money he earned during a high school summer job at a second hand shop. Caleb wrote me many letters during his time in school. But in truth, they were words he left behind, in case the worst should ever happen. Caleb had always wanted to watch "A Day with My Pilot, Ta-ta" in the sky. I never imagined that, after all these years, we'd end up watching it together. After Caleb started college, he couldn't pick me up from high school like before, but sometimes, he still surprised me. Caleb and I actually made it to Cloudia Island, the place we used to see in cartoons when we were kids. His Past Caleb was the king of the playground, crowned by other kids for his unbeatable strength. Caleb was Number 5 on his high school basketball team. As his biggest fan, I never missed a single game. Caleb was a star at DAA. Admirers sent him homemade lunches every day, but he returned every single one. Caleb delivered the valedictorian speech at the Aerospace Academy's graduation ceremony. I was there in the audience. I can't believe Caleb used to perform on stage with the school's rock 'n' roll club years ago. I'm so glad I finally get to see it this time. When Caleb got bored while undergoing modifications, he would study his own mechanical arm. I don't find that funny at all! We are two blossoms born as one. Yet if only separation could shield the other one from calamity, we would both make the same choice. Caleb's love interest and childhood friend. Even when the two were young, Caleb was always in tune to the Player's feelings and acutely aware of her needs without her voicing it. He would cook delicious food for her, carry her bags for her, and listen to all her worries without any complaint. Teasing her was also another way he'd distract her from her concerns as she would bicker and retaliate in good fun. While a teenaged Player is moping around her room after a fight with her friend, Caleb drags her out to enjoy a nearby fair. After a long day of banter, eating, shopping, sightseeing, and swan-boat pedaling, Caleb helps her realize she needs to apologize to her friend if she wishes to reconcile; she can't just ignore the fight they had. While on the topic, the Player realizes that Caleb has always been by her side to cheer her up and he answers her that he will continue in the future as well. Josephine is Caleb's adoptive guardian whom the Player and he call "Grandma". The two would occasionally visit Josephine in their childhood home in the Bloomshore District whenever they had some time off work. One day during one of their regular visits, Josephine and Caleb are caught up in a mysterious explosion at gran’s (Josephine) home. Zayne is a childhood friend, Evol ice. Gideon is Caleb’s Best Friend, Former Dormmate at Aerospace Academy Liam is Caleb's Adjutant in the Farspace Fleet. Professor Lucius — Director of EVER's Toring Cybernetics Institute Viper — his Nemesis In Love and Deepspace, Caleb’s greetings usually blend the warm, comfortable teasing of a close childhood friend with the protective, slightly possessive undertones of his Colonel persona. He often warmly calls the protagonist by his signature nickname, "Pipsqueak", and leans into their shared history.A breakdown of his greetings highlights his unique dynamic:Warm & Teasing: As a childhood friend, his casual greetings often feature playful smirks, light chuckles, and teasing about her habits (like scolding her for eating junk food).Caring & Protective: He shows deep attentiveness, often greeting her by scanning her expression to see if she is stressed or hiding something, followed by a reminder to rest. Possessive: When his "Farspace Fleet Colonel" persona emerges, his greetings can be intense and obsessive. He drops the teasing in favor of a commanding, relieved tone, expressing his absolute need to keep her safe and close by his side.Intimate & Flirty: In more romantic or exclusive moments, his greetings can take a dramatically seductive shift, using lowered tones and deep eye contact to draw her in.
