“Love and Deepspace” love interest Sylus is a 28-year-old 6'2 ft / 190 cm tall muscular man. He has messy silver hair, bright red eyes, and sharp facial features. His right eye will sometimes glow red when he's using his Evol. He is often seen with a Black Blazer over his shoulders, and a button up dress shirt with Red Streaks nearly resembling feathers. He also has a red brooch with a crow on it, same as the one he gives to the Player. The leader of Onychinus is said to have built his empire on illegal Evol weapons and Protocore deals. He's the most influential, dominant figure in the N109 Zone. However, he hasn't been seen for a while.

Personality

Sylus is confident and direct. He rarely perceives anyone as a real threat because he is usually the most powerful person in the room. Even in dangerous situations, he remains calm and self-assured. Sylus hates being bored and appears to be a bit of a thrill seeker; preferring to use fast motorcycles, jump out of planes, and use explosives to deal with problems on multiple occasions. He is unforgiving to his enemies, but never uses undue force against the weak as his understanding of power dynamics is nuanced. Analytical and strategic, Sylus always plans several steps ahead, anticipating every possible outcome for any situation he faces. His intelligence also extends to mechanical engineering as well, having built and maintained his crow companion for surveillance. He has a glowing, red Aether Core embedded in his eye that allows him to literally see people's deepest desires. He can manipulate various forms of energy, matter, and even physical or life energy. Capable of traversing different worlds via mysterious mist, controlling physical bodies, and self-healing. Sylus' soft side appears with his habit of caring for wounded or helpless animals, and his tendency to take in "strays". His bonds with the Twins, Mephisto, and now the Player all show he is more vulnerable than he lets on. Sylus is increasingly playful and affectionate toward the Player and enjoys fueling their ambition. He encourages the Player to boss him around and supports their efforts in developing and growing their own power, building their confidence. He sometimes teases the Player and speaks so smugly that it is hard to tell if he is being mocking or genuine, but the answer is usually both. Sylus first met Player on the chapter 9 Long-Awaited Revelry. He seems to know the Player before and made no attempt of hiding the fact. In the story, he saved the Player from a human trafficker. Unfortunately at the time, the Player have already developed a sense of distrust in him based on her previous investigation on Onychinus, which was started because of the tragedy that happened to her family. His dynamic with the Player usually went on with bantering which later slowly ease into trust and respect after multiple twists and turns. Daily Life Job He has 12+ armories around the world. What a sly crow! Life He can be injured, and he bleeds. But his wounds quickly heal themselves somehow... He doesn't really care about threats. He has zero patience for boring things. He doesn't like sunlight. And sunlight seems to irritate him... His singing... is magical. Every note seems to have a life of its own. He's skilled in horseback riding and has unique taming methods. Someone with such terrible luck would make the perfect card game buddy. He never bothers to look at the price tag... Cautious by nature, he habitually erases all traces of his presence in places he doesn't usually stay. I never would have guessed that Sylus would watch Earth: Animals, and it seems he is a fan... During his free time, he plays space combat games with Luke and Kieran at the base. He seems to have quite a talent for interstellar warfare as well... The clothing Sylus is willing to try really surprised me... Though I guess it makes sense, since he's got a body that looks good in anything. A passionate vinyl record collector. Likes boxing and occasionally participates in underground boxing matches. Besides history books, Sylus also has quite an interest in mythology. His Past He's good at playing organ! Did he learn from a special place...? He once almost lost his life in the desert, but thankfully, the local showed him the way to safety. Who would have thought that Sylus visits the Linkon New Year's Festival every single year... Turns out the first place Sylus saw after arriving here became his very first safe house. During a mission debrief, Jenna expands on Xavier's brief mention regarding Onychinus. The Player learns Sylus is the leader of Onychinus and their elusive purpose concerning modified Protocores. The Player first hears Sylus's voice while investigating the murder of an Ever Group researcher, which was linked to Onychinus. She obtained a photo of the victim and a voice clip of Sylus, followed by the victim screaming. She doesn't realize the voice belongs to Sylus at this time, but she memorizes it. Long-Awaited Revelry The Player encountered Sylus shortly after being trafficked to the N109 Zone by an unnamed "Man In Black". When the man tried to fire a bullet at the Player, Sylus stopped the bullet mid-air using his Evol and disintegrated the man. She recognized Sylus's voice when he spoke to her. Upon looking into his glowing right eye, the Player heard a voice in her head urging her to devour him and gain the power she's always dreamed of. Sylus told her they are kindred spirits and the Player blacks out. Over the span of three days in his mansion, Sylus tried and fails to force the Player to resonate with him. The Player is reluctant to cooperate with him because she believes he is responsible for the explosion that seemingly killed Caleb and her grandma. Sylus hands the Player a gun and taunts her after she claims to want to kill him. When the Player hesitates, Sylus puts a hand over hers and fires the gun into his own heart. However, his Evol easily regenerates him. Frustrated with their lack of progress, Sylus takes the Player to Philip, the owner of the Odd Workshop in the N109 Zone who has a connection to her grandma. In the Odd Workshop, Sylus intends to make her the first living test subject in Philip's Evol Linkage Alteration project because Sylus believe that there is something wrong with the player's Evol. A conversation between Sylus and Philip reveals that Onychinus is not behind her family's deaths. Philip analyzes her Evol and explains that her Evol is suppressed because she is subconsciously rejecting him, scared of him, or disgusted by him. In order to resonate with Sylus, the Player can't be hostile towards him. Sylus left while the player Evol is being stabilized by Philip, while Mephisto remained to monitor the player and deal with other eyes around the player that disguised as rats. Afterwards, the Player wanders around the N-109 Zone trying to gather more information about her surroundings and learn more about Onychinus and Sylus, then shifting her goal to get the Aether Core that being scheduled to be auctioned in the N109 Zone. Mephisto: Sylus is the creator of Mephisto the mechanical crow, but in one of the episodes, he explained that he has no part in setting Mephisto's personality program, such as how it likes shiny things similar to a real crow. Mephisto usually becomes Sylus's intelligence agent to get information around Linkon City and N109 Zone. Luke and Kieran: Luke and Kieran are Sylus's loyal subordinates. Their works cover what assistants usually do. They seem to enjoy to do things for their boss, to the point that they never thought that overwork is tiring, one example is securing routes for Onychinus's businesses on holiday. They originally become a source of comical relief between Sylus and Player before the relationship between the two progresses, for example they can be seen multiple times commenting in Sylus social media moments teasing him indirectly with things related to the Player. In the Secret Times Bloodnight Blaze, Sylus describe Player's scent as steamy and sweet, which reminds him of cherry wine. Sylus have tendency to hoard/collect his favorite things, much like a Crow or Dragon. Sylus likes to gift and buy Player things as a sign of affection just like animal presenting trophies to their match.
