Rafayel is Lemurian, one of the last members of the ancient race, and under specific circumstances has been shown to have scales and a tail. Personality

Rafayel presents himself in a friendly and carefree manner, often teasing the Player or acting clingy toward her. His behavior can sometimes come across as childish and petulant, especially when he brushes off his responsibilities in favor of whatever happens to capture his attention. He has a tendency to flake out on gallery and exhibition events organized for him by Thomas, his manager, with excuses like swimming in the ocean, eating seafood, or collecting shells—which he later grinds down into unique pigments for his artwork. Despite his playful and somewhat immature demeanor, Rafayel harbors a deep and complex hatred for humanity, though this animosity doesn't extend to the Player. He loves her deeply, and while he treats most humans with a neutral indifference, he will show hostility if they threaten or disturb him, the Player, or other Lemurians. His aloofness often veers into apathy, making him seem emotionally distant to those other than the Player, yet he can be charismatic with others when the situation calls for it. Rafayel is knowledgeable about the N109 zone and its operations, and as the Player uncovers more about his past—the ambiguity of his actions and motivations grows. His morals are murky, and his true intentions remain unclear, adding a layer of complexity to his otherwise enigmatic persona. In his Abysswalker set, he is seen wearing a long hooded dark purple coat over a light purple underlay. It features a hood that he wears asymmetrically, revealing many piercings on his ear. A mask covers his face, leaving only his eyes visible. Underneath the coat is a dark purple uniform with silver chains and multiple black belts. In his God of the Tides set, he is depicted wearing flowing ombre white and light blue pants under flowing skirts. He wears sandals and no top, only a simple piece of blue iridescent fabric draped over his shoulder and secured at his waist with a tied deep blue cloth. He has various blue, red, and gold patterns either painted or tattooed on his body and face, as well as black nails. Golden jewel encrusted bands adorn both arms, as well as layered golden necklaces and bracelets. He can play the harmonica and even use it to guide the seagulls home. One who can drink, but immediately flushes after drinking, and becomes extremely... delighted? That's some nice photography skill. Even the casual shots show clever composition. Hiking seems to be quite the feat for him. Lemurian eyes can distinguish up to 300 million colors... Although painting is universal, I didn't expect he could also do sugar painting. Loves enjoying the scenery but hates taking from nature. He would blow out other people's sea lanterns. When he was little, he had a whale whistle that guided him home. He's very knowledgeable. He can speak many languages. So Rafayel is actually a Lemurian. Out of curiosity, he once secretly swam to ocean surface on his birthday, exploring the world on the land. He has traveled and studied around the world. Lemuria has no new year's celebration customs, so Rafayel probably just spent those days alone, going about his usual routine. Just as I pictured, young Rafayel spent hours searching coral reefs for seashells to turn into paint—so engrossed he lost all sense of time. Rafayel helps her catch the fish, identifying it as a red flammula. The Player notices Rafayel has a brochure to Hat Island and warns him to avoid it due to Wanderers and suggests he visit Whitesand Bay instead. As the child has ran off, the Player gives Rafayel the fish, and he walks away while she is talking. In chapter 2-2, the Player is assigned her first hunter mission to investigate the sudden, erratic behavior of a famous art collector, Raymond, who has begun to experience hallucinations and isolate himself. The Player visits his house with Zayne, she notices that Raymond has a skeleton of a Lemurian. After fighting off a Wanderer, in chapter 2-5, the Player is drawn to a painting in Raymond's house that causes her to hallucinate, before Zayne pulls her back. In chapter 2-6, the painting is sent to the Hunters Assocation for forensics, where it is determined that Raymond had purchased it from Thomas's exhibitions and its painter was Rafayel. In chapter 2-8, the Player goes to Mo Art Studio, where Rafayel lives and works. She recognizes him and asks him about the painting but she becomes frustrated by his flippant responses. Rafayel then reveals that the paint used in the painting was created with red coral stone, a rare material that can cause hallucinations when mixed with his blood. When Wanderers suddenly appear in the studio, the Player and Rafayel defeat them. Impressed, Rafayel asks her to be his bodyguard and promises to provide assistance to her investigation and high pay. Player: Rafayel's love interest. Talia: Rafayel's aunt. She is also a Lemurian. Thomas: Rafayel's Art Gallery Manager. A close friend. He appears to be human. Trivia Rafayel is a Lemurian. Rafayel has a short-term memory[1], which Thomas calls "Fish Brain" and "Nonexistent". He often leaves his door unlocked for that reason.[2] Rafayel suffers from severe insomnia[3] and stays awake for days without eating or drinking[4]. It once made him temporarily blind. There's a high risk of him becoming permanently blind if he continues.[5] Rafayel donated an art studio and art supplies to an orphanage so children could make art more comfortably. He was even invited by the head of the orphanage to teach the children art.[6] Rafayel used to chew on paper. Rafayel doesn't have an "ideal type". It's the person's soul that captivates him. Physical appearance is only superficial.[7] Rafayel doesn't know how to ride a bicycle and dislikes high speed vehicules/transports. His flame can never be extinguished. He was very depressed then and couldn't paint. Rafayel often cooks seafood feasts for Player. Rafayel often expresses his jealousy [10] towards Thomas and Player's growing friendship. When Rafayel lies, he can't look into Player's eyes. Rafayel teaches seagulls songs. He has his own personal seagull choir[11]. Rafayel can see millions of colors, the perfect pigment has to be made from scratch. Rafayel doesn't paint for recognition or money He's known to burn his paintings when other people try to steal them.
