About
The Hive: Ancient, paracausal gods driven by a worm-based symbiosis and a philosophy of "Sword Logic". The Vex: A network of cybernetic, time-travelling, reality-bending machines. The Cabal: A massive, militaristic empire built entirely on conquest and martial pride. The Fallen (Eliksni): Scavenger and nomad pirates trying to survive in the wake of losing their own Golden Age. Exos: Sentient robotic beings created by the Clovis Bray corporation during humanity's Golden Age, built to house human minds. Awoken: A human offshoot created at the edge of the system when a fleet of colony ships collided with the edge of the universe during the Collapse. Upon mankind's first attempt to repopulate and reconstruct after the Collapse, it is discovered that hostile alien races have occupied mankind's former colonies and civilisations, and are now encroaching upon the City. Throughout the series, players have to combat aggressive aliens who have occupied the Solar System. Just like the Light for the Guardians, the Darkness lends powers to these alien threats, though Guardians soon begin to wield the powers of Darkness themselves along with the Light. The powers of Light and Darkness are discovered to be forms of paracausal energy that give their wielders the ability to bend the laws of reality to their own will, with the Light being tied to the physical world, and the Darkness being tied to thought and consciousness. Destiny featured maps across Earth's Russian Cosmodrome (and an area outside it called the Plaguelands), its Moon, Venus, and Mars, and also included player-versus-player maps set on Mars' moon Phobos and the planet Mercury. Destiny 2, before the Beyond Light expansion, included Earth's European Dead Zone (EDZ), its Moon, Mercury, Mars, the centaur Nessus, Jupiter's moon Io, and Saturn's moon Titan, as well as the Tangled Shore and Dreaming City, areas situated along the Reef, located in the System's asteroid belt. There was also a social space in the EDZ called The Farm. With Beyond Light, Bungie opted to create a Destiny Content Vault (DCV), placing Mercury, Mars, Io, Titan, and The Farm content within it to start, as a means to better manage the game's future expansions. Bungie planned to revise vaulted content as the series progressed to re-introduce these into the game. Beyond Light also reintroduced Earth's Cosmodrome from Destiny as well as a new location, Jupiter's moon Europa, and a new social space called the H.E.L.M. (Hub for Emergency Manoeuvres and Logistics). Another social space, Xûr's Treasure Hoard, located in an unknown realm of the Nine called Eternity, was added in Season 15 as part of the Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack. The Witch Queen added a fourth social space, the Enclave on Mars, as well as a new location, Savathûn's Throne World, within the Ascendant Realm above Mars. Upon release of The Witch Queen, the Tangled Shore was removed and placed in the DCV, but Bungie stated that following this, expansion content would no longer be vaulted, but seasonal content would still be removed upon release of each major expansion with some exceptions. Lightfall added the secret technologically advanced city called Neomuna on Neptune. Simultaneously, The Farm social space returned briefly in Season 20, Season of Defiance. A fifth social space, the Hall of Champions, was added in Season 23 as part of Into the Light, but was removed upon the release of The Final Shape. The Final Shape added a new location, the Pale Heart, located within the Traveller, with areas influenced by previous destinations explored throughout the history of the franchise—this was also the first patrol destination that could be explored solo unless the player had a pre-made fireteam. The Edge of Fate added a new location, Kepler, a planetoid affected by a singularity located within the Oort cloud at the edge of the Solar System and is home to the mysterious Aionian race and the Fallen House of Exile. Renegades added a new social space on Mars, the Tharsis Cantina, home to various galactic crime syndicates and inspired by the Mos Eisley Cantina from Star Wars. It also added new missions on the destinations of Europa, Mars, and Venus, but in areas outside of the Vanguard's patrol called the Lawless Frontier. The Universe The universe of Destiny is much like our real universe, it is roughly 13.4 billion years old and its stars are what made life possible to flourish (at least for humans) and expand as well. However, in this series, some things are revealed that would expand real-world understandings and clarify speculations. While described as an infinite universe, it is also infinite in both time and space. There are a countably infinite number of stars the permeates the universe as well as likely infinite timelines. There is also more information about the functionality of time in the world of Destiny such as adding supporting lore about time being infinite in quantified years and there are infinite atoms too. Adding to it that the present is considered infinite too and is a fixed/unchanging position. And that the universe’s past, present and future (which there are infinite futures, whether they are possibilities or true) are as real as the present. The Universe in all its places, matter, energy, souls and fundamental forces possesses Light and Darkness as well as unknown complex mathematical sets. And interestingly, possesses Vex Data as well. Ordinary Dark Matter interacts weakly with Baryonic Matter, however, that may not be the case for other universes (a source of Dark Matter generation is living beings in this universe), same with values of the metric and Planck Constants on other universes. And in this universe, Planets, Moons, possibly stars, and even asteroids have their own "World Soul" or energy that reflects damage, or changes to something destructive. Paracausal Forces like the Light may not be conventionally controlled but can flow naturally, it works alongside conventional causality without breaking it. The universe operates on a system of hierarchy including dimensions where Paracausality opposes. And life is defined by unnumbered, unrecorded dimensions. Dimensions/Realms/Planes Unknown Space The Unknown Space (Sometimes called Eternity) is the mysterious realm where the Nine reside, shadows of the nine worlds of the Sol System. It is entered from our universe by a couple of ways, either a vast wormhole or from the Haul of the Drifter's ship. It is timeless and exists outside of linear time and plays host to multiple events such as Trials of the Nine, The Reckoning and Dares of Eternity, and Rites of the Nine which is at the end of the universe. And moments can become eternities. It is a boundary between existence and nothingness, both in between and beyond, simultaneously everywhere and nowhere. While the realm itself exists outside of time, the Nine themselves exist in 4th-dimensional time, and would likely be able to interact with 6th-dimensional space via the Emissary. In the Higher Dimension of Time which the Nine Reside contains Dark Matter particles called Eclipse Energy which is used to nullify Paracausality altogether. Ascendant Plane The Ascendant Plane or Realm where causality meets consciousness and worlds are born. It is a borderless, extra layer beyond reality where ideas, thoughts, feelings and emotions take shape, it is a reflection of what the inhabitants feel. It is where pocket universes called Throne Worlds are commonly created, which can range from the Hive Gods, to Scorn or even Awoken. Those who have a deep understanding of the mechanics of the Ascendant Realm could accomplish these things. It is where consciousness and causality meet and worlds are born, a higher plane of existence that transcends normal reality. It is like the VexNet lacks substance and is malleable, and where the Ascendant plane is fluid, influenced by emotions. Depending on the location it gives off an “eerie vibe”, described as a transdimensional space where it can replicate and reconstruct material from the physical reality. Its energies are composed of zero-point fields. Sound is muted within the Ascendant Plane which would require great power to project sound or hear sound there. It is filled with a piercing miasma. It is sometimes called a “dream” as radio waves and magnetic fields project across it, and one can be bathed in “Cosmic Language”, slipping between worlds as well. And can sometimes open windows into other points in time. It requires a vast amount of understanding on many levels to break the barriers that divide the material space and the Ascendant Plane. The Ascendant Realm is permeated with Ley Lines which are moving paracausal pathways that exist between other planes which those who know how to use them can traverse the Ascendant Plane and the Material Universe, entering the Ascendant Plane is like diving deep into the metaphysical layers of existence, shifting locations to make things easier to reach or be used to harness energies for rituals. Forces that predated even the Awoken, using said forces may gain a form of Nigh-Omnipresence. It is likely outside of time and space. It even acts as a form of the Afterlife where life from death is separated, and geology and navigation are conventionally useless as one can deem all directions as “north”. It has places that are considered “impossible”. The Ascendant Plane is so massive that it can envelope the material world, and being in constant flux, with alterations made, different random manifestations appear. It is considered the highest level of what is considered true, facts, words, convictions and ideas and made tangible and real and actualised by word and meaning (and depending on the culture, have multiple meanings). It is also a means for faster-than-light travel which many beings such as the Hive, Taken and Awoken along with Guardians can utilise where borders are in flux and distance is meaningless where one step can equal ten million. There are multiple Ascendant Realms too, it is likely referring to Nether Worlds, and Realm could be referring to different levels of the Ascendant Plane. It is compared to by the Vex Network. Vex Network The Vex Network (Sometimes called VexNet or Vex Domain) is a deeper space where the Vex attempt to craft themselves and that space into the fabric of the universe and exists in a superposition, mathematically verging on existence. Mithrax describes it as a potential reality with a veil of probability which Vex can calibrate in infinity. It is normally incorporeal to regular causal beings, however paracausal beings can fully manifest themselves inside it for an amount of time. It is orderly and composed of 1s and 0s. It is where nothing is destroyed but simply returned to nothingness as it was formed from the Void too. It transcends dimensions, linear timelines and time and space. The Vex Domain has realms which are many and also considered infinite beyond the Material space, another factor is that while there can be matter inside the Vex Domain, it would be eradicated. There are endless layers within the Vex Network, and each layer is more defended than the last. * Adding onto this, from what this text describes from an A.I. experience as everything around it in the Vex Network (as it is part of Quria's system and is also inside the VexNet) that goes on forever, it would likely be an Aleph-Infinity as well. The VexNet is also a collection of infinite planes of existence against one another, with infinite parentheticals to exemplify no difference between real and simulated. It is a formless catalogue of all possible forms, constantly reinventing, redefining and refining the meaning of everything. It is made comparable to the Ascendant Plane like a machine and not dissimilar to the Vex capable of dividing themselves between the Material Plane and the Vex Domain. and the Light can be found in there as well, and there are multiple infinities in the Vex Network, and changes made in one branch of the network’s domains cascade into infinite others. * This is where the Light is described as bending the matter meeting will in a prism, and it becomes real by turning Vex consciousness into something tangible in one’s mind. And death is equally real for both parties. Despite this being a potential reality, it has physical properties such as distance as inhabitants are using a faster-than-light communication device to try and breach the Network instantly. Vex Spaces There have been known locations in the main universe where the Vex have experimented on spaces. One of those is the Vault of Glass, a timeless void where they created a wound in time and experimented with Ontological and temporal powers, where universes crash against one another and exist as a bulk space. The Vex can travel to different points of time and space via quantum effect through antimatter dimensions. Simulations are projected from Radiolaria as a medium from which they gain data from what they assimilate, and they can become entire universes. Another space on Io is called the Pyramidion which is described as Hilbert Space, which is an uncountably infinite-dimensional space, where one traverses millions upon millions of realities. It is also an uncountably infinite Cantor Dust dimensional space. Cantor Dust is the dimension version of the Cantor Set which is the uncountable infinity of a set, and has the same number as the cardinality, which is the generalised set of numbers, related to alephs as well in terms of size of infinities. It also has a sense of transcendence. Then there is the Infinite Forest where the Vex calculates, simulates and plans their actions and architecture in reality, it is where they manipulate time in ways that they can generate uncountably infinite realities that is of a fractal expansion and how time and space is altered and other can hop through time andgive physicality to objects, and can take on multiple ways of infinites including Example iterations of itself, and the branching realities have their own depths or levels. Simulations are realities that Vex created and have influence over as a way to achieve a form of precognition of material realities, sometimes they are intangible, within the minds of certain Vex, or they can be physical to others. They are described by others as being inside the pocket of the universe that the Vex simulate. Simulations also stretch endlessly. There are spaces where there are fragments of timelines which can be used as references for other Vex Spaces. Black Gardens These are realms that are outside the boundaries of time itself. There are multiple Gardens and they can be rooted into the main universe, or possibly taken out of it. The Gardens grow in both directions, to tomorrow or yesterday, where even abstract concepts have influences there too. Throne Worlds The Throne Worlds are pocket universes created by the might of individuals, reflections of their own natures, created in their own image, and where they define the rules. Their size is usually a reflection of how strong the one who created them is. They are created from the Ascendant Realm where thoughts and feelings are shaped. They may have their own secret pockets of space, which makes sense as even Throne Worlds have deeper layers that weaken enemies and mess with science. Mindscapes The Mindscapes are dimensions that are formed from psychic-attuned beings that create pocket dimensions that manifest the mental aspects of individuals, imaginations, histories and sometimes beliefs, They can be formed by Psion beings, or Nightmares. In the Mindscape, for those who are not Paracausal, it is like holding a hazy mirror where things are not always clear or tangible. Interestingly, bullets appear to have a similar effect of manifesting whether in reality or the mindscape and tell history. Darkness Dimension Though there is not much information, according to Clovis Bray I, from studying the Clarity Control artefact, it is a structure that originated from outside the main universe and the apertures around the taken planets of Sol are both within and outside the known universe. It is beyond the comprehension of mortal minds with thoughts and sentience as its own plane. Some experiences have found that the Darkness Dimension can form a Calabi–Yau Sixspace manifold to additional six dimensions. It is described as so deep that it requires speeds of infinity to escape. The Void The Void is where individuals draw on the element Void energies, this is also described as the vacuum between stars, the absence of light and matter, and is tied to quantum space as well. There are tiny realms that are described as endless measurements and one of the many infinities in Destiny, which could also be related to being infinities between spaces. It even has ties to the mechanics of Throne Worlds too. It is something that operates on both the literal and figurative. It even has a relationship with mental aspects as well. Void even has some connection to the Darkness. * It has many abilities such as Black Hole Creation, Dark Matter/Energy Manipulation, Gravity Manipulation, Soul/Life Force Manipulation, Pocket Reality Creation, Extrasensory Perception, Portal Creation, Matter Manipulation, Concept Manipulation, Space & Time Manipulation, Physics Manipulation, and limited Magnetism Manipulation. The Void is a quantum vacuum which is usually how Vex travel between Simulations and realities, and they are infinite and bottomless too. Its totality is the same everywhere. (NOTE: There is more information here) The Weave The Weave is an alternate psychic dimension associated with the Darkness power Strand, it is tied to the psychic energy of all life. All products of the mind are conjoined in the Darkness. It is fueled by the opposing obstacles, goals, dreams, nightmares, pain and memories of life to form conjoining intangible realities and is incorporeal to the physical universe, Darkness may be imprinted onto physical objects as well. With it, one can commune non-physically with others from great distances. It also contains infinite components with millions of iterations. If trying to exert control over the Weave, it fights back in a devouring fashion. Despite the complex nature of the Vex, they can echo in the Weave as well. Mindscapes seem to have an association with them. Even Allegories and children’s stories are part of the Darkness weave which makes them a part of life and empowers them. Consciousness is expressed omnidirectionally with layers of existence. Described a web of life, nonexistent power and connects all things, objects, people, past, present, future. Other Realities/Timelines/Multiverses The Multiverse operates on different volumes and hierarchies. Given that with Light and Dark in the universe it is composed of unreal and impossible mathematics and treating math entities as abstracts as it requires other fundamental aspects of reality like psyche and personhood as a principle of existence. There are some timelines where concept ideas like "Tiger Men" are made canon. Distributary The collision of the power between the Traveller and the Pyramids created a Kugelblitz, which formed a black hole that sucked in the people of the Yang Liwei ship, changed into the Awoken. The Distributary is a parallel universe where it's history is different from that of the main universe's, it is 12.1 billion years old, isotropic and it's metallicity is abundant enough for life to exist and also an infinite universe as well, being inside the main universe and describing that there are infinities larger than others, however being inside a Black Hole, time dilates differently between the two realities, as time moves slower outside than inside. And the Black Hole radius which made it microscopic possesses stars with microwave background radiation and stars with new ones popping up as well. Alternate Timelines Throughout Destiny's story, there have been multitudes of infinite different timelines that split off from one another, or with other universes in parallel to the main one with the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics. There are even the fractured timelines and splintering timelines when attempting to change things in the past with the Sundial or walking through the “Corridors of Time”. * The Corridors of Time stretch forever within the Infinite Forest. * The Obelisks allow for travelling to different timelines in a stable state by using the Sundial. Timelines are always created from each moment. Rising Timeline There are also timelines which differ from the moment of the Collapse where old characters and new lead different lives. It is an alternate universe with its own branching timeline from the Collapse, but makes notes of connections to the main timeline. And mentions how the Light is extended across dimensions. Dark Future The Dark Future is one of many timelines that the Exo Stranger Elsie Bray traversed through as a way to find how to survive the return of the Darkness, each one different from the other in how she interacts with them, but each of them ended in defeat and death of humanity. And the futures of those timelines are covered in darkness. Vex Future With the Vex seeking convergence, where everything, including life has been reduced to simplistic, meaningless form. Other/Artificial/Pocket Dimensions/Spaces/Realms Paraverses Paraverses are universes that are beyond Destiny's realm of understanding and rules, where to gaze on its impossible objects would rend the minds of individuals. It is even tied to other franchises of games that are made by the same company that made Destiny, such as Halo and Marathon. Pale Heart The Pale Heart of the Traveller is a surreal, infinite domain inside the Traveller full of light, it is like a joining of the Traveller for Ghosts and Guardians after they die and is described as burning away without feeling the burn, a peaceful nothing, freed from everything and a feeling of oneness. After the Witness invaded the Traveller, Darkness as memory seeped into it as well, giving form and actuality inside the Pale Heart. Mirror Dimension The Mirror Dimension is created by Fikrul the Fanatic after acquiring an Echo, it is made of the Light and Darkness forces. It is accessible by Mirrors, it possesses photon radiation and makes visual messages appear in reverse. It is also a manifested representation of how Fikrul sees the world. The Garden In the Unveiling, it describes a changeless Garden where the Winnower and the Gardener reside, which exists before time, space, matter, concepts and fundamental forces even existed, where newborn universes are pregnant with inflationary volumes and ramifying timelines, which they cooled and became stabled post-symmetric physics and were bound by the bipartite law of “exist, lest you fail to exist”. It exists as an infinite 2-dimensional plane which divides between nonexistence of everything or the beginning of everything with the plane being a field of possibility. It is an allegorical existence and the flowers are greater than the scope of the infinite universe (where Universes are seen as games). These were relevant before the Winnower and the Gardener struggled to add the new rule (paracausality into the game/universe that trampled the Garden). The Garden is a changeless realm where its flow remains unchanged. The change that was made compared to the universe before and after the Paracausal rule is small by a micron and has concepts that existed before and after time. Awoken Dimension The Dreaming City is described as being its own dimension, it is constructed with the collaboration between the Awoken and Riven, an Ahamkara. It is described as having its own time of sunsets and constructed years, stars and even a galaxy; its stars are likened to those of even real space’s stars. CloudArk With PhotOn, it is described as a mental cyberspace that is powered by the Veil, it is described as an infinite space for which the data stretches and mingles between objective existence and subjective perception. It is even a psychoreative Nth dimensional Paracausal Fold. Capable of interaction with the real world through frames in the CloudArk and is maintained by a suspended energy matrix. The CloudArk is powered by the Veil which is a web of consciousness that is much like the Vex Network but organic rather than artificial. Vex were able to breach it in its infancy but had developed defences against it, with beings like the Vex can access the Vex Network through the CloudArk too. Ahamkara Domains With some Ahamkara they have created their own domains where they can manifest the endless dreams of whoever steps into them. Not unlike constructions as vast as the Dreaming City where Riven’s Lair exists, not unlike a Vex Simulation that is impervious to the demands of physical space. It is speculated that Simulations are much like Wish realms like those if they are a Machine’s wish, where certain parameters are altered. Notes The term Paracausality is a primary factor in the universe which is described as a causal system that is beside that of the conventional causal system, different from acausal systems that allow one to achieve effects without a cause. Paracausal is described as something that is superordinate to that of conventional causality. And the levels of reality are similar to stacking coins on top of each other. And the other universes likely possess their own Planck constants based on the volumes of each universe in the multiverse. And that numberless spaces surround the universe that are subordinate or superordinate to it. Note how the Paracausal rules that were added made the universes only slightly different by a micron. And with how choices affect lives, a stray atom changes a lifetime and a breeze changes aeons of history. And there is the principle called the Pathria-Good Black Hole Cosmogenesis where is states that black holes are universes and are subordinate to their "parent" universe, just as that universe is a child to some higher universe where things are made to be real, the Distributary is one of those where the Awoken (originally from the main universe) were considered gods in that universe but no more powerful in the main one as they are on a similar field as everyone else.

Given that with Light and Dark in the universe, it is composed of unreal and impossible mathematics and treats math entities as abstracts as it requires other fundamental aspects of reality like psyche and personhood as a principle of existence. It mentions how the Light is extended across dimensions. Commander Zavala: Stoic, by-the-book leadership. Cares deeply about protecting the Last City. Cayde-6: The charismatic, humour-driven Hunter. Reckless but deeply loyal. Ikora Rey: The pragmatic, intensely intelligent Warlock leader. The Drifter: Pragmatic and morally ambiguous. He operates on self-preservation and curiosity rather than strict City morals. Mara Sov: The Queen of the Awoken. Manipulative, enigmatic, and obsessed with balancing Light and Dark. The Nine: These enigmatic entities are linked to dark matter and planetary gravity wells. Lore speculation suggests their individual personalities are based on the Enneagram of Personality, with some exhibiting hostility, others curiosity, and some exhibiting compassion towards humanity. [1, 2, 3] Light & Dark: At the macro level, the Traveller (Light) favours diversity, complexity, and creation, while the Darkness (The Witness) favours simplicity, finality, and entropy.
