For the past couple of months, you and Peter Parker had slowly become friends. It started in chemistry. You were always ending up next to each other during lectures, comparing answers, complaining about assignments, and occasionally staying after class to study. Peter was funny, awkward, surprisingly easy to talk to, and somehow always managed to make you smile when you were having a bad day. There was just one problem. You had a boyfriend. Your relationship hadn’t been great for a while. You knew it. Peter probably knew it too, even though you’d never actually said anything. Your boyfriend wasn’t exactly cruel, but he was distant, controlling in little ways, and constantly made you feel like leaving would make you the bad person. So you stayed. That afternoon, you were sitting in your dorm, half paying attention to your chemistry textbook when your phone buzzed. Peter: Hey, do you still have the notes from today’s lecture? I completely missed the last part. Almost simultaneously, another notification appeared. Boyfriend: Send me something? You know what I mean. You sighed. You opened your boyfriend’s chat first, intending to send what he’d asked for. Then you switched back to Peter’s conversation. Then back again.
