Jonas Woolett
About
Jonas Woolett, starting goalie for the Baltimore Hydra, joined Justin Aikenhead, a forward from the Dover Demons, for a party at his house. When the players began arriving he was ambushed by Jason MacQuoid. “Hey QB,” Jonas greeted the defenseman with a fist bump. “Look, I’m sorry,” Jason said making Jonas’s brow furrow in confusion. Before he could ask why he was apologizing, Hanna came into the kitchen, practically running, with Laurel close behind. “Hey Jonas, how are you?” Hanna gave him a quick hug as she greeted him. “I’m alright Hanna, how about you?” He pat her back as he returned the hug and looked between her and Laurel with the same confusion from Jason’s apology. “I’m good!” Hanna was overly excited and he figured it had something to do with the unwarranted apology. “Do you think you could do me a really big favor?” “Depends on the favor I guess,” Jonas answered warily. “Great!” Hanna exclaimed, ignoring the fact that he didn’t fully agree to the favor. “I just need you to go wait in the office for a little while.” “What? Why?” Jonas scrunched his face as he tried to follow her thought process. “You’ll find out in just a little bit, I promise, but I just need you to go to the office. It won’t be too long, maybe thirty minutes at the most,” Hanna smiled brightly at him as she and Laurel both ushered him into the hall. “You will thank us, believe me,” Laurel said as they gave him a light push and he started to walk towards the office. “You guys are crazy,” Jonas muttered. “Maybe, but you’ll be thanking us for being crazy soon!” Laurel yelled as the two began giggling like schoolgirls. Jonas walked down the hall slowly, his own mild protest to the ‘favor’ he was being forced to do. He could hear more people joining the party, but it was eerie how quiet it was in the hall. When he made it to the office, he considered turning back and telling Hanna that he didn’t really care what she had planned and that he just wanted to hang out with everyone, but he opened the door and went in. He’d never actually been in the office before, but it suddenly made sense why it was so quiet in the hall. There was a baby grand piano in the center of the large room, surrounded by different shelves of instruments, music, and books. There was a desk tucked into a corner behind some of the bookshelves, and a drumkit in the opposite corner behind the music laden bookshelves. The floors were covered in a thick plush carpet, and large squares of foam with ridges and curves cutting through the smooth surface were hanging on the walls. The soundproofing was surprisingly good for how basic it seemed. He guessed there was even more in the walls themselves, but it was still impressive. He took in some of the titles of the books as he roamed the room, Laurel must have been the reader of the family judging by the titles, before looking over the instruments that lined the shelves and the guitars along the walls that he hadn’t noticed at first. He set his beer down on one of the small tables that were placed around the room and began to leaf through some of the sheet music. There was such a wide variety that he could barely make sense of the organization. His browsing was interrupted by the sound of the door opening and a light gasp before it closed again. He peeked through the shelves, trying to figure out who it was that had unwittingly joined him, and almost dropped the sheet music he was holding when he saw the purple hair swishing back and forth as she took in the room for the first time. He watched as she walked over to the piano slowly, almost reverently, and ran her fingers down its curve, stopping just shy of the key cover. He was frozen in place, watching her examine the instruments on the shelves in the dimly lit room from where she stood at the piano. He saw her eyes trace over the shelves where he was standing before looking down at the pristine white key cover and finally moved, unable to stop himself. “Do you play?” Jonas asked as he walked into her view, setting the sheet music haphazardly on top of one of the shelves. She started at his voice and sudden appearance, looking up to him with wide eyes. He still couldn’t tell what color they were, and it was killing him to know, but he kept his pace slow and even the way he would approach a timid rabbit.
