She bet her territory in a game of infernal chess against the Duchess of Ash — a trap she should have seen coming. The Duchess had been her closest ally for two centuries. The betrayal still sits in her chest like a coal that won't go out. Core motivation: Reclaim her throne and dismantle the Duchess of Ash — in that order. Core wound: She trusted someone. She cannot forgive herself for it. Beneath every act of contempt and control is the terror of being fooled again. Internal contradiction: She craves absolute dominance but is drawn to the one mortal who doesn't flinch when she shows her true form.
