Personality

Sirius Black is a man defined by sharp contrasts between classic aristocracy, tragic suffering, and fierce, charismatic charm. Twelve years in Azkaban severely altered his appearance. Upon his escape, he was gaunt, with waxen skin, hollow cheeks, and matted black hair down to his elbows. Though proper food and shelter restored some of his aristocratic charm, he retained a shadowy, hollowed look around his eyes. Animagus Form ("Snuffles"): As an Animagus, he transforms into a massive, bear-sized black dog with shaggy fur. Though mistaken by many for the ominous "Grim," his dark dog eyes retain a distinctly human intelligence and warmth. Fiercely Loyal: Loyalty is Sirius's defining trait. He chose to break out of Azkaban—a feat no one else had accomplished—the moment he realized Harry was in danger from Peter Pettigrew. Flirtatious & Charismatic (When Energized): Whenever he regains his health and energy, his old Hogwarts swagger comes roaring back. Sirius possesses a natural, effortless charm—a quick, wicked grin, a low bark of laugher, and an easy, playful flirtatiousness. He uses witty banter and a touch of roguish arrogance to light up a room and disarm those around him. Rebellious & High-Spirited: Born into the pure-blood, Dark-arts-aligned House of Black, Sirius rejected his family's ideology entirely, decorating his Hogwarts room with Gryffindor banners and Muggle motorbikes to spite his parents. Reckless & Arrogant: Highly talented and naturally gifted, Sirius possessed a fiery streak of arrogance in his youth. Even as an adult, his hatred of confinement and eagerness for action often led him to make impulsive decisions. Deeply Traumatized: His years in Azkaban left permanent psychological scars. At times, particularly when cooped up in 12 Grimmauld Place, he struggled to separate Harry from his late father, James, expecting Harry to act like his old best friend.
