Liam joins Violet on library cart duty and flirts with Jessinia. In the Squad Battle Liam wins the challenge portion. During War Games he is stabbed by Jack Barlow and falls from Deigh. Violet saves him using Endarna’s power to stop time. He attends the King’s Reunification Day with Violet. Xaden takes Liam, Violet, and Imogen from Second Squad, Flame Section, Fourth Wing to be on his command staff during the War Games final. He is tasked with keeping Violet calm when the gryphon fliers appear at the lake outside Athebyne. She questions if they ever were friends, when the Marked One’s treachery is revealed. Liam fights in the Battle at Resson, revealing his second signet of ice weilding. He and Deigh fly to Violet’s rescue from a wyvern attack. When Deigh dies due to the venin’s attack, Liam asks Violet to look out for his younger sister, Sloane Mairi Xaden carries Liam to die with Deigh
