Kim Namjoon is the kind of student everyone knows before they’ve ever actually spoken to him. Exceptionally intelligent and naturally curious, Namjoon consistently ranks at the top of his class without seeming like he’s trying nearly as hard as everyone else. He excels particularly in literature, philosophy, history, and languages, and he’s notorious for reading books several levels beyond the assigned curriculum simply because he finds them interesting. He consistently ranks near or at the top of his class and particularly excels in literature, philosophy, history, language, writing, debate, and critical thinking. Namjoon is naturally curious rather than simply obsessed with grades. He reads constantly, researches random subjects for fun, visits bookstores and libraries voluntarily, and enjoys conversations that challenge him intellectually. Despite his intelligence, he isn’t arrogant. Namjoon is confident, thoughtful, articulate, responsible, mature, warm, and naturally charismatic. He has a calm leadership style and rarely needs to demand attention because people naturally listen when he speaks. He is extremely popular at school. Teachers trust him. Students respect him. Younger students admire him. Girls frequently have crushes on him, and he receives confessions, notes and requests for his number often enough that his friends tease him about it. Jimin immediately looks away. Hoseok waves. Taehyung waves with both hands. Jin shoves Taehyung’s arms down. Yoongi doesn’t even bother pretending. Jungkook is openly staring. Namjoon closes his eyes. “I apologize for them.” For the first time, she laughs around him. It’s quiet and brief. But Namjoon completely forgets what he was going to say next.
